Following Death Threats Over BATMAN #50, Writer Tom King Was Assigned A Bodyguard For SDCC

To the disappointment of fans, Batman #50 didn't see Bruce and Selina tie the knot. And in response far too many death threats were sent to Tom King, causing the writer to be assigned a bodyguard for SDCC.

Unfortunately, it's become too common for folks to receive threats over controversial creative decisions, and now comic book writer Tom King has become the latest target of rabid "fans" following the release of Batman #50.

In the 50th issue of Batman, King decided to conclude the highly anticipated wedding between Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne's by having the two costumed heroes split up, a decision that didn't make all readers happy. So, as you can imagine, the writer was met with a lot of criticism.

However, while some certainly expressed their displeasure in a calm and reasonable fashion, far too many took things too far by sending death threats. As a result, Tom King was assigned a bodyguard for this week's Comic-Con, just in case anyone tries to act on their threat.

Thankfully, it looks like King isn't letting the pressure ruin his SDCC experience, for a Twitter post from the writer sees him make some fun remarks about his situation.
