How DC can make "Green Lantern" even greater than "Guardians of the Galaxy"

DC had one unsuccessful "Green Lantern" movie, but they are planning to reboot it.With 200 million dollars budget the movie ended up being bad and made people hate the Green Lantern character. With the same budget last year Marvel made "Guardians of the Galaxy " and that movie ended up bringing over 750 million dollars to Marvel. With some great ideas and story lines that exist already in comics DC can make "Green Lantern" not only into their cash cow but also expand their universe as Marvel did.

First we have to admit the "Green Lantern" movie kinda sucked.DC needs the reboot to be awesome in order for the GL universe to gain the recognition it deserves. What Guardians of the Galaxy are for Marvel goes for Green Lantern Corps. They open the door to the vast DCU which presents new possible treats for our eartly heroes.Mainly the GL universe brings threats of the scale as Thanos is bringing to the future Avengers. The Infinity War is a big part of Marvel movie strategy and all movies set in the Marvel universe will lead to that scenario.

DC have couple of global universal threats they can use for they split in two movies.Couple of them come from the Green Lanterns. The Blackest Night/Brightest Day is one of the most interesting comics I have read alongside the Court of Owls.

My thoughts are that they should either use The Blackest night/Brightest Day storyline in the Green Lantern reboot or make it the main event in the Justice League as I see the movie is split in two and each part of the event can be into a separete movie.Blackest night is the first movie, and brightest day second Justive league movie. It has all DC heroes involved from all the universe so it is perfect for such a movie. But such an event relies on a good GL presentation. Good thing DC can do is start to put easter eggs in each of their upcoming movies.William Hand is a petty Hal Jordan villain and is the main antagonist in the event. He starts small and eventually ends up creating the event. So they can put him as a small role in BVS where we only see like a bank robber with the tags WH or something else.My point is they put him in each movie and at a point the action goes past him and we see him slowly progressing.By that time they can already see if audiences will pick up and if they would be on board and choose wether to put Blackest Night/Brightest Day as a Justice league movie,or just use Blackest NIght for the Green Lantern reboot and just keep progressing William Hand aka Black Hand until the Green Lantern movie.

Another smart move they can do is they should cast all Green Lanterns and not just Hal Jordan.

For those that dont know earth has few Green Lanterns. And with the rumours going that DC may offer the role of one of them John Stewart to Idris Elba I am totally seeing my prediction coming true.

Other notable Lanterns besides Hal Jordan and John Stewart are Kyle Rayner and Guy Gardner.

Another story line they could use for the GL movie is the Ring War but that will be mentioned in my other article.

Idris Elba playing john Stewart would be amazing but depending on his marvel contract it won't happen. He seems like after he's done with his marvel contract he wants to do more art pictures.

Use popular storylines as a basis for the movies and include all of the Green Lanterns?!

Great scott! What originality!

@cinnamon dude I wrote the perfect one but for some reason everything got deleted while I was uploading the photos.
@dapug88 There are rumors that he wants to play a main hero character and that he was not happy with his Marvel part.

@GreenLantern519 I just hope they do that. In the end I think they wont do a good reboot to the GL Universe and just present us another origin story or some post JL crysis.

Just do a procedural show in space. The Green Lantern corps are just glorified space cops anyway.

First and foremost, WB/DC needs to hire a director for Green Lantern with sFX and CGI experience.
About a year ago during an "open channel" discussion on io9 they posed the question "which movie do you desperately wish would get a sequel." I don't "desperately" wish it, but I suggested Green Lantern because I like Ryan Reynolds and Mark Strong, and I would like to see a sequel with a different/better director.

Now I'm not sure how much truth, if any, this comment has, but it's believable and worth sharing. Someone replied with the following:

"I have a friend who works in the VFX industry doing computery wizardry stuff. He says you can often tell if a movie will be good by how much the director is interested in the fx work when he comes to visit their offices. Some directors spend hours talking to the effects artists about work in progress, discussing ideas, others not so much. He told me the 2 visiting directors who most obviously could not give a shit were Jan de Bont on Speed 2 & Martin Campbell on Green Lantern."

What a damn shame:

@totalblind @dapug88

Apparently Idris Elba is making an Edgar Allan Poe thriller/superhero trilogy.

If someone wants to make a post for it on here.

They better hurry up before Marvel launches it's NOVA franchise in phase 4. That's all I know.

If Marvel corners the space cop genre from DC/Green Lantern..they might as well throw in the [frick]ing towel and stop making movies.

guardians had a budget of 170 million, warner bros need to be a bit more conservative with their budgets.

GOTG was totally it's own thing and I want Green Lantern to be it's own thing too

There has to be a film director out there that has read Green Lantern comics and is a fan...right?

Honestly I don't want them to adapt any of the storylines from the comics because that would be boring and tried. Do something original with the character, keep the core roots of whatever lantern they decide on using, and go from there.
