Amazing Spider-Man 648 Review

Not half bad, but not half good...

I am a huge Spider-Man fan. I still read the title even though I am still a bit made at the events of One More Day but lately the book has been either decent or great. This issue kind of lies in the middle of decent and great. The story is simple, it is setting up the new status quo for Peter Parker and the people around him. It involves a new sinister Six, Mary-Jane, JJJ, Aunt May, in fact the story covers so many characters, the book feels bloated and sometimes unfocused. The highlights of the book include Spider-Man and the Avengers, Peter looking for a new place to crash and the introduction of the villain for this first story arc.

The Art I am still undecided about. On one hand Rumbertos' art can be cool and the character models for the heroes while cartooney can still be cool.

However when Rumbertos does people it just comes of weird, like the articles of clothing some of these characters wear it almost reminds me of the 90's era of bad artwork. The dialogue is decent and banter is fun but nothing great in particular. I am still excited to follow the book and look forward to the future stories. Over all, I give the book a 7/10 which is decent.

Also about the "Death of Spider-Man" its crap. It wont happen. And even if it does, it will be short or misleading or something. Point is dont buy into Marvels hype.

I liked the thing the avengers say about : "if it's your villain, you get to say it" referring to "Avengers Assemble !"

man, that cracks me up. I only read the preview and i really liked it. I didnt mind the dudes art since i read Spectacular Spider-Man and it was the same guy. You get used to it

I hope that having one writer in ASM will solidify things a bit as far as the writing goes, but godsdamn, Ramos's art is absolute shit!!!!!!!

Marcos Martin is ok, in small doses IMO, the other guy's (can't remember his name,Caselli?)work looks like the best of the three and it looks impressive. Let's hope Ramos is only on for the first 3 issues and that's it, kinda like when McNiven was only on for the first 3 of BND and left. Only, he shoulda stayed on for the next 3 years!!!

IMO, ASM should have: Mike Deodato, Steve Epting, Bryan Hitch, Marco Checchetto, Salvador Larroca, Mike McKone, Alex Maleev, and probably more high quality artists on the book.

Keep hacks away like J.R.jr or Ramos. The crap artists should go to crap books.

HUGE Spider-Man fan here too, thanks Flash!

Gotta say, this was one of the best versions of Spidey I've seen in ASM. Checchetto was a bit rough a first, but his style got better as he did more.
