BLOOD HUNT #1 Foil Variant Cover Pits Earth's Mightiest Heroes Against A Horde Of Bloodthirsty Vampires

Vampires have lurked and plotted in the shadows of the Marvel Universe for decades. This May, however, they'll make their boldest move in yet in Blood Hunt, the upcoming Marvel Comics crossover event that sees the world plunged into eternal darkness.

Blood Hunt will unfold gloriously across a main series by Jed MacKay, Pepe Larraz, and Marte Gracia, as well as various limited series, one-shots, and tie-in issues. Like other classic Marvel crossover events, Blood Hunt has been naturally building over the last few years in various titles, specifically MacKay's hit runs on Moon Knight, Avengers, and Doctor Strange.

The stakes are higher than ever as the vampire legions of Earth unite for the first time in millennia and launch an invasion that will profoundly affect our favourite heroes. After each twist, turn, and shocking betrayal, it's said we'll be left wondering what - or who - can reverse the Marvel Universe's terrifying fate!

Blood Hunt #1 promises to be the most monumental issue of the year and we've learned today that it's getting a special foil variant cover by acclaimed artist Javier Fernandez.

As you can see, it shows Thor, the Scarlet Witch, and Vision, along with Spider-Man, hopelessly surrounded by an unquenchable army of bloodsuckers!

"I think vampires are a very fun part of the Marvel Universe," MacKay recently said. "You can enjoy them on a surface level as adding a little spookiness to a book, or you can get as deep as you like into the long-running Marvel history of vampires, which is as elaborate as any other part of it (and the fact that Dracula is there is a source of endless delight)!"

"Blood Hunt is just the latest chapter in the long-running vampire mythos of Marvel vampires—and they're stepping out of the darkness in a big way."

We're definitely intrigued to see where this story is heading and what sort of impact it has on the wider Marvel Universe moving forward. On the live-action front, it's been confirmed vampires exist in the MCU and Blade is still in the works despite undergoing multiple changes as Marvel Studios looks to get the reboot right.

Check out this new variant cover for Blood Hunt #1 below and stay tuned for more as we have it.

I always found it hilarious to see the strongest of superheroes have difficulty taking down vampires.

@TheLight - Yeah at least Thor, Vision, and Scarlet Witch would have no problem with them. Spider-man shouldn’t, but he could be overwhelmed by numbers.

@TheLight - Wait, why though? In most iterations they themselves are superheroes. Super strength, super speed, ability to fly, ability to manipulate the world around them.

What is ridiculous about vampires holding their own? Like Dracula from the Castlevania anime would totally wreck house on alot of the Marvel Universe.

Not to mention, YOu have chracters like Morbius who have given Spider-Man headaches all the time.

You have characters like Thor, Vision and Scarlet Witch, all possessing powers that are ranges higher than the undead that can easily topple them into dust. Thor, who's power is on a cosmic level and Scarlet Witch who has insane reality warping strength alone are in a league of their own. It was always just laughable seeing vampires have some shot at them.

@TheLight - ok but by your logic someone like the scarlet witch is just OP and shouldn’t have a problem with anyone.

I like the cover, particularly the choice of depicting Mjolnir overcharged with so much lightning power. That aesthetic for the comics is a lowkey favourite thing for me.

Honestly all the heroes look good, especially Thor and Spider-Man.
