Next year, Marvel’s Captain Marvel will see Brie Larson bring Carol Danvers to life for the character’s big screen debut, a major milestone for the character. However, this year is also a big year for the character, as it will mark 50 years since the character first appeared in Marvel Super-Heroes #13.
To commemorate the occasion, Marvel Comics will be releasing five beautiful variant covers this July. The five stunning covers depict the character's journey over the years, including covers that feature Danvers in her Ms. Marvel, Binary, and Captain Marvel outfits.
This covert art is by Kate Niemczyk with colors by Morry Hollowell and will act as the variant cover for Avengers #4. As you can see this particular cover sees Carol Danvers during her days as an Air Force pilot. This element of Danvers' backstory will be seen on the big screen when the hero makes her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The second variant cover, which sees Carol sporting her original Ms. Marvel costume, will accompany the release of Immortal Hulk #3. It also features a number of the foes Danvers faced during her early days as Ms. Marvel, including Mystique and Deathbird. This piece of artwork is by Mahmud Asrar and is colored by Edgar Delgado.
Now, this third cover is by Ema Lupacchino with colors by Jason Keith, and it features what is arguably the more iconic version of Carol's Ms. Marvel costumes. Fans looking to buy this particular cover will see it released along with Doctor Strange #3.
The fourth variant cover sees Carol Danvers in full Binary mode. As fans may know Carol received this costume and power-set when she was spending time with the X-Men. The hero also spent a bit of time travelling with the Starjammers while under the Bianry monicker, so it makes sense that the two superhero teams would appear on this cover by Paul Renaud. This cover will serve as the variant for Black Panther #3.
The fifth and final cover, which will accompany the release of Thor #3, is by John Tyler Christopher. This cover sees Carol saluting while in her Captain Marvel attire with a couple of friendly fighter jets are right behind her. Unlike the previous covers, this one showcases the hero's current status quo and the costume fans will see adapted to the big screen when Captain Marvel hits theaters next year.
