Running from March to June, Brian Michael Bendis' Age of Ultron is finally set to see the light of day. Bryan Hitch has completed the first five issues of the book, while Brandon Peterson and Carlos Pacheco will be handling art duties on the latter five. Three issues will be released in March, three in April, two in in May and June, and finally an epilogue to follow. There will be about six to seven tie-ins altogether consisting of "AU" one-shots (similar to the #.1 issues) and limited series' for the titles such as Fantastic Four and Superior Spider-Man.

"Age of Ultron is about Ultron, one of our biggest villains ever, finally fulfilling his destiny, which is taking the Earth," Bendis explained in a conference call with Marvel.com. "From the very first page, Ultron has taken the Marvel Universe and everything is changed. There is a shocking amount of destruction and devastation. It started in Avengers, but it's meant to be a Marvel Universe book." While the first issue of the series will pick up AFTER Ultron has taken over, the story is set firmly in the "Marvel NOW!" continuity, although it remains to be seen whether the fact that Peter Parker was alive and well in the original Point One prologue confirms that he is indeed the Superior Spider-Man. We DO know that Bendis' Moon Knight serves as a prologue of sorts.

"It's fair to say this is an Avengers Vs. X-Men level event," adds Tom Brevoort. "That doesn't mean we won't be doing other things later in 2013, but it's Brian, Bryan, Brandon, Carlos and all the ingredients needed for a big deal project." More details can be found by clicking the link at the bottom of the page, but below you can check out the covers for issue #1 of Age of Ultron.

Awesome! Ultron is an fantastic villain, so I'm hoping this will be great. At least better than Marvels most recent few events. AvX was meh, and Fear Itself straight up sucked!

@LEVITIKUS Your right...now that you mentioned it..ironman looks like the only one wearing his new suit. O.o Keep in mind tho, this event was planned for 2012, so who knows how old this might be.

@shiverman. Some people thought it was ok, but I found it painfully boring. I guess you can see for yourself, but I wouldn't get your hopes up!

Cap's shield is unbreakable, but it breaks in just about every major event. Originally that was supposed to be shocking, like "if Cap's shield is broken things must be very serious!" But now it's like eh whatever. This does look cool though

Don't worry, Hawkeye's got'em!... I love hawkeye but how is he always presented as one of the last ones standing in many of these events, one-shots, and etc?

You can tell the first cover was drawn a while ago when Marvel Now! wasn't ON. They've just recolored Iron Man's bleeding Edge amrmor and Spiderman's, Cap's and Hulk's suits aren't up to date.

So Age of Ultron takes place in like the next two issues of ASM?

That gold Ultron design sucks more than the black Robocop design. Regardless, Bendis better finally do justice by the Vision... such an awesome character that's been reduced to an also-ran by modern Marvel.

Ugh...can't we get a different writer. Like Hickman or Reminder? No more Bends events!

@DannyRand401:

Ultron is a fan-favorite because he's always been badass. Adamantium originated with Ultron, not Wolverine (all that Weapon-X stuff is retcon.) The very first appearance of Adamantium was in Avengers when Ultron stole the experimental batch from SHIELD to make himself indestructible. That meant that no matter what the line-up, the Avengers simply couldn't beat him into submission. He had very personal motivations against the Avengers (didn't really move on to genocide against organic life until much later, after the world's governments conspired to murder the Vision), and tended to mentally dominate them and manipulate events.

Which is not to say he was exceptionally original... he was essentially Frankenstein's monster, enraged at being brought into a world that had no place for him, and so hunted down his father, created a bride and a son and others. But he's a great, raging creation for an A.I. character, and nowhere near a monotone-style, logic-driven "Hal" type.

The last marvel Big events and I use big loosely, started good then dragged in the middle and ended poorly, I love Ultron like I love Darkseid, so a 10 issue event with Bendis at the helm does not sound to promising. I just hope they use him well.
And I free with almost all the comments so far.

I think the best Marvel event to happen in the last several years was Ultimate Power a few years back. Bendis wrote the first 3 issues, JMS wrote the middle 3 and Loeb wrote the last 3. Bendis is a great idea and set up man. I can't deny that.

Any word on who the artists are? I highly doubt Hitch drew ALL TEN of those issues before he left Marvel. Color me impressed if he did.
