This February, the Guardians of the Galaxy and X-Men will crossover once more in the cosmic event, The Black Vortex. Announced at Joe Quesada's annual NYCC panel, the three month-long event will include Guardians of the Galaxy, Legendary Star-Lord, Captain Marvel, Nova, All-New X-Men, Cyclops and more, and will be bookended by Alpha and Omega issues. Star-Lord writer Sam Humphries went into a little more depth in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, teasing the power of the titular vortex and revealing the involvement of the villainous alien race, the Brood. “[The Black Vortex] could, in the wrong hands, absolutely tear the Marvel Universe apart,” he said. “And so the Guardians of the Galaxy and the X-Men have to team up to make sure that doesn’t happen.” Are you up for another Guardians/X-Men crossover? Check out the logo below and leave your thoughts in the usual place.

They certainly are piggybacking off the movie's success. Nothing wrong with that. They know that if they don't Guardians could become a little irrelevant to General audiences.

Seriously, some of the worst events from the past 10 years have all been written by Bendis, Age of Ultron, Secret Invasion, Battle of the Atom, The Trial of Jean Grey, get it through your thick skulls that he can't do them and stop letting him have them you [frick]ing bastards.

And yeah, Marvel hadn't had a decent event in years. They need to turf out their creative team.

i wonder how this will effect the series. hopefully they don't change it for the sake of the movie. because it's not like you can make another universe or just make the marvel cinematic universe as your own -_-

@dingbat - How would less Guardians comics make them a little more irrelevant to the general audience? Is the general audience going out in droves to buy the comics now?

o_O

Guardians were a property only the most hardcore fans new existed. The GA doesn't give a flying [frick] if they have comics or not...

@Gunslinger

It's not uncommon for people to see the movie then go out and buy merchandise or comics based on it if they liked the film. It's also not uncommon for comic fans to do the same thing. Keeping Guardians in the spotlight as much as possible is good for people who are new to them.
