Marvel Comics has been hinting at the death of a major character in the pages of Zeb Wells' The Amazing Spider-Man run for a while, and the individual in question was killed-off in this week's issue - but it's almost certainly not who readers were expecting!
All signs pointed to Mary Janes Watson meeting her maker, with artwork for The Amazing Spider-Man #25 and #26 echoing iconic covers for the Death of Gwen Stacy, but with MJ in Gwen's place. However, things played out very differently.
Warning: Massive spoilers from this point on.
Bleeding Cool has learned that Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, will die in TASM issue #26.
This is a bit of a shocker, to say the least. Kamala doesn't have her own series at the moment, but she played a part in the current TASM run, and was also involved in the Spider-Man/X-Men crossover, Dark Web. We fully expected Marvel Comics to place more of a focus on the character with The Marvels on its way to the big screen, but headlines are headlines at the end of the day.
We're not sure exactly how she died (we assume Peter is at least indirectly responsible), so be sure to pick up the issue for yourselves if you're curious.
We can't see Khan staying dead (does anyone?) for very long, but it'll be interesting to see how and when she's resurrected. If she does come back, could it be as a Mutant and not an Inhuman in order to bring the hero more in line with her live-action counterpart?
