Marvel Comics has announced its next big crossover event at New York Comic Con and we now know that 2024 will see the release of a story called Blood Hunt

Vampires have always walked amongst the shadows of the Marvel Universe, but next spring, the long night arrives and these bloodsucking terrors will step into (and endure) the spotlight like never before.

The main event series will be brought to life by an A-team of Marvel talent: current Avengers scribe Jed MacKay and acclaimed X-Men artists Pepe Larraz and Marte Gracia. As you might expect, Blood Hunt will also spill out into a host of tie-in issues across both the biggest current series and with the launch of all-new limited series and one-shots (which promise to redefine the status quo).

"Brimming with unsurmountable stakes," reads the official description, "this startling saga will drag the world into darkness as your favourite heroes struggle to ward off the vampire race’s cursed crusade of terror!"

It sounds like official details are still a while off, but we do have an epic trailer along with a gorgeous piece of promo artwork by Leinil Francis Yu and Sunny Gho for you to sink your teeth into today.

MacKay says, "We have vampires in our books all the time, there's some bad blood there. What happens if the shoe was on the other foot? We've got the Avengers, Moon Knight's Midnight Mission, Doctor Strange, Miles Morales, and of course, Blade, and there's going to be more vampires you can shake a stick at."

Vampires have long had a role to play in the Marvel Universe, and while they were once confined to the pages of Blade's comic book series, Dracula actually targeted the X-Men a few years ago in a story which saw fan-favourite mutant Jubilee become a bloodsucker.

The Daywalker can be seen in the image below alongside a number of fan-favourite heroes, including Captain America, Doctor Strange, and Miles Morales Spider-Man. Poor Vision doesn't seem to be faring particularly well and we're definitely intrigued to see where this story goes.

Check out a first look at Blood Hunt below.
