After the death of Moon Knight...comes his vengeance. Beginning next month, we'll witness Marc Spector's dramatic final moments play out in Moon Knight #28 - #30, but is this a comic book death that will actually stick? Probably not.

Even so, writer Jed MacKay and artist Alessandro Cappuccio will return in January to take Moon Knight's story into its next phase in the pages of Vengeance of the Moon Knight

Over the course of 30 issues, MacKay and Cappuccio have revitalized the Moon Knight mythos with the introduction of a new fist of Khonshu, Hunter’s Moon; the return of Moon Knight’s archenemy, Black Spectre; and an exciting new calling for Marc Spector at the Midnight Mission.

Now, this blockbuster run reaches an explosive turning point as the pieces fall into place for Moon Knight’s ultimate demise. When the dust settles, a new avatar of Khonshu’s wrath will awaken! Complete with a new look and an unquenchable thirst for battle, this mysterious new Moon Knight emerges to take Marc’s place in Vengeance of the Moon Knight, and they're described as "a deadlier Lunar Legionnaire for the dark times ahead."

Clad in the black of mourning, the Midnight Mission remains. But who is left to keep the faith? And how have they been changed by the Black Spectre's masterstroke? The next chapter of Moon Knight begins as the congregants of the Midnight Mission pick up the pieces and carry on the mission...and find themselves faced with a mysterious new enemy in eerily familiar vestments.

"Moon Knight may be dying, but Vengeance of the Moon Knight rises, clawing itself from the grave!" MacKay says. "We're thrilled to bring the next chapter of this saga to uneasy life as the Midnight Mission reels from a recent loss... and yet, Moon Knight still stalks the nighttime streets?"

"Despite the apocalyptic events of Moon Knight #28 - #30, we have plenty left to tell in the story of the Moon Knight, and I'm excited for readers to join us!"

Explaining the new design, Cappuccio said, "We needed a new black suit in this series so here we are! For the design, I took inspiration from ancient Egyptian banded armor while trying to stay true to the mood of the character. I replaced the classic batons with similar weapons that are reminiscent of the flowers of the Nile as depicted in the hieroglyphics."

"He is a new Moon Knight in both appearance and spirit and needed a change of look to suit the situation as you will see!"

We're pretty sure this is just going to be a new personality joining Marc, Steven Grant, and Jake Lockley, but this new series sounds undeniably intriguing. You can check out David Finch's Vengeance of the Moon Knight #1 cover below along with Cappuccio's original design sheet for the new Moon Knight.

THAT...is a bad ass look! They need to dispense with the multiple personalities. It makes the character less appealing in my opinion. They should also tamp down the supernatural aspects of him and pair him with a well known villian to elevate his stature. I vote for Green Goblin.

@Forthas - the multiple personalities is what the character has been since creation. getting rid of that is like getting rid of spider mans jokes during fighting. moon knight is and always will be a head case. this new one i dont know.

@supermanrex - I am sure you are aware that some characters start of one way only to evolve to become different. Namor and Black Adam were concieved as villains only to become anti-heroes. Wonder Woman's origin story has changed several times so there is no reason to not change the character especially if it leads to a better more interesting character.

@grif - Right?

Here's a radical prediction: Marc Spector will turn out not to be dead and will be Moon Knight again and the person who replaces him will also be a kind've Moon Knight.

Eventually they'll do the story again. And again and again, and we'll have many Moon Knights co-existing.

Because nobody can ever tell a story where one person is chosen and the legacy passes down anymore.

@ObserverIO - the eternal milking of a once great character...happens over and over...let them die, age out, whatever, and let new characters come to life...invest in new stories

@ObserverIO - *Ahem* You're forgetting the Moon Knight clones, Kid Moon Knight, and Moon Knights from other universes ("Into the Moon-verse", "Across the Moon-verse", and "Beyond the Moon-verse").

If they had guts like the past moon knight stories, it'll be revealed that this new Moon knight is just another personality, Marc is alive, and there's speculation planted in that all the God level powers sh!t never happened.

Are people going to be ticked that Moon Knight is black now?
Marc’s dead, but I hope he makes a full recovery.

The fact that Moon Knight runs around in an all-white costume so the bad guys see him coming is great.

This is the same shit as Frank Castle not being the Punisher anymore - obsolete.
