PAX 2010 has come and gone and with it comes a ton of video game news! Specifically, new details have emerged for the upcoming game, Marvel Super-Hero Squad online. The online game is aimed at 6 to 12 year olds, but we all know that comic fans will be taking a turn in the online universe.
The game is based on the highly successful Hasbro toy line and cartoon of the same name. It will be divided into three sections, the first being a traditional MMO hub environment, the second being the customizable S.H.I.E.L.D. Hellicarrier rooms, while the third is a PvP system.
The PvP aspect is actually a card game designed by ex-employees from Wizards of the Coast.
If you were wondering about security on the game for the little tikes...
"With its target audience of small children, a lot of attention has been paid to security. For now, there will not be any live chat in any form beyond pre-written lines and emotes, and any chat implemented will be heavily moderated. The game will also be moderated for players attempting to spell anything out with objects or characters."
You will be able to play the game for free in any web browser! Of course there will be micro-transactions available at some point to buy more characters or better environments. The game is currently in beta and will be available in early 2011!
