First off i am a movie fan, i always try and find the hidden gem in every movie i watch. I also grew up with the 80's action genre where you didn't need a real plot to be a "good" movie. The typical A to B story line was always enough for me, as long as the movie offered something that was entertaining. Movies don't always have to be a huge production or "EPIC"(man i hate that word) to be a good time. It seems like today(from what i read on here)a movie needs to be certain way for a lot of you to like it. But that's a different story and one for a future article. With that out of the way....
Marvel's name is everywhere these days. Comics and toys to video games, TV shows and now mainstream movies. Marvel is bigger than ever now with the MCU taking over the film industry but they didn't always have their name on quality entertainment, or did they? :)
Round one
Best of the low budget prints
This first round is dedicated to the movies that lets say Marvel doesn't want people seeing. First up to the plate
Dr Strange
In this 1978 made for TV cheeseorama classic a psychiatrist becomes the new Sorcerer Supreme of the Earth in order to battle an evil Sorceress from the past. I gave it a shot a few years back, and well i fell asleep :)
Batting second and going straight to home video is...
In this stab at the super soldier the Red Skull defeats Captain America in 1941, but the super hero is thrown into suspended animation. Captain America is revived 50 years later to face the Red Skull one more time. Plus most of the cast of A Christmas Story is in the film, and Ned Beatty is always fun to watch.
In the number 3 spot we have everyone's favorite family
In 1994 this movie had all of my excitement, i remember seeing production shots in movie magazines and i couldn't believe my eyes, a FF movie! Now at the time i was 11 years old and didn't know any better, come to find out many years later after always wondering why i never got to see it, it was shelved and made only for copyright reasons.(or so they say)
And clean up for this round in this battle of the low budget cheese balls goes to.....
I don't think i really need to say much about this one. 1998, The hoff, made for tv, and Lisa Rinna pretty much sums it up. But it gave us our first live action version of hydra :)
Of course there are a few more that i didn't include because i feel like they belong in a different category. If this hits then i will do another round. Don't be afraid to admit that you liked any of these titles! Take your pick and crown THE KING OF THE NO MONEY MARVEL MOVIES!
