MCU Fans vs MCU Fanboys

Now, now. Now, now. Just hear me out.

I consider myself a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, what I do not consider myself is a fanboy of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now a fan of the MCU can have varying opinions: they might want X-Men to revert to Feige, they might not; they might think The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was good, they might think it was the worst thing in the world; you might be one, @Pasto was one I think. The point is, a fan of the MCU loves the MCU. So what qualities define a fanboy of the MCU:
  • Post pictures of Kevin Feige in every X-Men article.
  • Try and trash Sam Raimi's Spider-Man.
  • Try and trash old X-Men movies.
  • When somebody says they liked Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, they question that person's intelligence.
  • Claim Iron Man II is a good movie.
Now I've already pissed a bunch of you off. Realize though that what I said also defines Olicity shippers:
  • Constantly post pictures of Marc Guggenheim.
  • Try and trash Malcolm Merlyn's arc in season one.
  • Claim Deathstroke the Terminator wasn't a good villain.
  • When somebody says they wanted Oliver to be with Laurel, they question that person's intelligence.
  • Claim that Season Four was watchable.
Oh wait? Doesn't that also describe every other fanbase that gets far too invested in a piece of work? Like calm the [frick] down guys. Kevin Feige wasn't the first man to make a cinematic universe, he won't be the last. We should all be glad that unlike Marc Guggenheim, Kevin Feige doesn't run off of appropriation and can actually produce good movies (bar Iron Man II). However, there's one thing I want to get across: say you got a cool bike and so did your neighbor, you don't have to trash your neighbor's bike to make yours look cooler.

Seeing all the Spider-Man 4 articles and seeing like four or five posters repeatedly bashing Maguire while praising Holland really got me thinking? Really? Spider-Man: Homecoming isn't even out yet. You've seen an extended play of Holland's Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War. Have you ever considered that it isn't enough to go on to consider Holland the definitive Spider-Man or Peter Parker. Like yeah, he's good - but his appearance in that film was sheer novelty. Until we see him in his own film, we can't judge where he ranks. However, to make Holland seem better, you don't have to say, "Maguire's Spider-Man was actually Pussyman and cried too much!"

Well guess what, Spider-Man probably cried less in the movies than in the comics, in which he's a little bitch as Parker and an asshole as Spider-Man. He's like the Bugs Bunny of superheroes and that's why we love him. I mean, you don't see me going around and saying "Holland's Spider-Man had a little bitch voice and shit costume when it wasn't CGI!". That's because while I hated his voice and thought the costume only looked good in CGI, I didn't have to say that to somehow absurdly make Maguire's Spider-Man look better or worse.

Yeah, I'm glad Spider-Man is back at the MCU because I can finally enjoy a Spider-Man film again (although they should've gotten someone other than an untested clown like Jon Watts to direct). But c'mon guys, stop posting stupid ass memes like these:

and this one:

oh and then there's this one:

Want to know a little secret? Kevin Feige got his start on X-Men. Yes, he helped build the foundation of that "everything". Can we please stop posting this shit and get back to posting good memes like:

or:

and my favorite:

Yes, that last one is a beauty isn't it? Now before some of you take this all out of proportion, I don't know what I chose as the thumbnail but it was the only picture I had on my computer. Oh yeah, and the other thing: remember, you don't have to hate on other stuff to make your stuff look better. It's like when Jay Z fans claim that he won cause Nas said "Gay-Z and Cock-a-Fella Records". No, Jay Z did not win. He lost and you can't rewrite history. Ether > Takeover and Desert Storm > Supa Ugly.

And because I like you all, please enjoy yourself by listening to some Biggie Smalls (oh, @Scorpion8125 - this is rap so you probably shouldn't listen to it):

P.S. - Man isn't weird how the most comic book like X-Men movie got such polarizing reviews? It really reminds me of John Cena.

...or we can not post memes at all and rely on intelligent conversation rather than a goofy picture to express our feelings.

That "old man gripe" aside, you are one hundred percent correct in the contrast between fan and fanboy. Good article.

Iron Man too is a decent film. Not Great by any stretch, but to call it a bad movie is an exaggeration. I would consider it good. A action comedy with some poor plot but overall enjoyable.

Trashing Spiderman 3 is ok. The rest of the movies you said they trash I wouldn't really say are trashed based on the movie itself. They are trashed because they aren't standing the test of time, not that they are bad films, or aren't great. But they are just made in a different era of comic book movies.

BvS I agree with your point, people can say they liked it. I would put that movie in the same boat as IM2. To say it was great is rediculous, to say it was bad is rediculous.

Lastly posting a picture on X-Men articles is kinda funny honestly...

I understand what you guys are trying to say and do but you're wasting your time and energy.

Best course of action is too ignore the crap. This just adds to the flame.

The worst fanbase are hardcore GTA Fans. PERIOD. NO DEBATE. They do not even understand the series that they obsess about. GTA 5 is a masterpiece which I do not think any person, hardcore gamer or casual, can argue, but these people complain about how terrible of a game it is that ruins the name Grand Theft Auto. They herald GTA 4 as this great game that 5 in no way lived up to. But, if you go back about four or five years, they swore up and down and the GTA 4 was the worst game ever when that was still a pretty enjoyable game. Combine that with the fact that drop the word "faggot" if somebody has any opinion differing from their own. Like you think this DC/Marvel stuff is bad ...try having a fanboy call you dick sucker for thinking Trevor Phillips is a very fleshed out character (yeah, they typically tend to HATE him.) Then there is the fact that they only seem to care about the violence, cussing, and overt sexuality. Topics about how the whole series is a satire go WAAAYYYY over their heads. They curse up and down about how terrible the censor groups are, but they take the game just as much at face value as those groups do when the truth is, it is very clever game series. That isn't even scratch the surface. Go on one of those forums and mention the idea of a female protagonist one of the games ...suffice to say, you will be called a fag and a pussy A LOT!

I am putting this into perspective because no, DC fanboys are not the worst. Marvel fanboys are not worst. There are WAAAAYYYY more fandoms with terribly ignorant fans that argue about stupid stuff. At least we are fans about something that is incredibly topical right now and not wishing death on each other ...like I see on GTA forums ALL THE TIME.
