Following Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman's blockbuster Venom run, it's been revealed that Marvel Comics' resident master of horror, Al Ewing, and Ram V will take over the title. It's said that they plan to bring the same style and sensibilities that made Immortal Hulk such a hit, working together to lend a dramatic and dangerous air to this twisted new vision of Venom.
Rounding out this symbiote hivemind will be legendary artist Bryan Hitch (The Ultimates), bringing his rich and detailed style to the Venomverse. He's been working at DC Comics in recent years, but a return to Marvel to tackle a fresh take on Venom feels like the biggest thing he's done in some time.
"When my editors reached out about taking on Venom alongside Al Ewing and Bryan Hitch, I was not prepared for the kind of creative thrill it has been ever since," Ram V says. "This story is going to expand and push the symbiote narrative and lore in even more unexpected and fantastic directions. It is also an utter thrill having the sort of call and response mechanic I’ve had with a writer like Al and an artist of Bryan’s caliber. Fans and new readers, strap in - you ain’t seen nothin’ yet."
A first look at what's in store will be revealed in the Spider-Man/Venom Free Comic Book Day special launching on August 14, with the new Venom series kicking off in November.
As you can see in the preview art below, it appears this Venom will have a slightly different look in this relaunch (however, a variant cover puts his classic appearance front and centre).
