CONSTANTINE Finds Its 'Papa Midnite' For Season One

There had been talk of classic Constantine supporting character Papa Midnite playing a role in the first season of the NBC series, but now an actor has been found to play the Voodoo King of New Orleans. Who is it? Well, you can find out that and more after the jump!

USA Today reveals that relative newcomer Michael James Shaw will join the cast of Constantine this year in the recurring role of Papa Midnite, the Voodoo King of New Orleans. They describe the character as, "a formidable magical adversary for demon hunter John Constantine," though in the comic books he actually leads a violent street gang and is considered the deadliest sorcerer in all of Manhattan. That's all we know about his role in the series for now, but Midnite has been both an ally and enemy to John Constantine over the years, so it should be interesting to see how they handle the character. For those of you with a good memory, Guardians of the Galaxy star Djimon Hounsou played the character in the 2005 movie. What do you guys think?

MrCBM- Ha, that's what I did at first!! Mouthfuls of that shit. Every time the girlfriend was in the room I chewed louder. I'm always twitchy an' shit, too. I just sit there flicking the lighter all day to keep my hands busy.

Of course keeping lighters around probably isn't the brightest idea when you're trying not to smoke, but, hey.. I worked hard to collect some o' those, dammit. I'm a mass of contradictions, I know.

Just happy they finally cast someone in the role. He'll never live up to the brilliance of Djimon Hounsou, but hopefully he'll be great.
