We know Welsh actor Matt Ryan will play John Constantine in the Fox pilot, and now thanks to Bleeding Cool we also know who he'll be going up against.

"Introduced in the pilot, with a subplot providing him a kind of origin, is the character of Papa Midnite. As the series runs on, we’ll see Midnite and Constantine facing off again and again, as the stakes get higher and higher."

This immortal voodoo priest/organized criminal began as a foe to John in the Hellblazer comics, but later on they found themselves teaming up to battle bigger threats to the world..so we can probably expect the show to follow suit. Midnite was played by Djimon Hounsou in the 2005 Constantine movie.

In addition, the site report that the pilot (and presumably the entire show if indeed it's picked up) is to be set in New York, with scenes being set in the Ravenscar Psychiatric Hospital - a location which should be familiar to Hellblazer readers. What do you guys make of this? Any casting suggestions for Midnite?
