While waiting for the official unveiling of Marvel Studio's The Infinity Gauntlet movie prop I managed to catch up with one of the swords creators, who had a hand in the creation of this amazing piece. Here are the details:
- The prop was created by Sword and Stone out of Burbank, California. Tony Swatton was the head designer on the project, most of the credit undoubtedly goes to him for the final product.
- The prop is made almost completely out of bronze and copper. The gems are molded out of colored resin.
- The piece's approximate weight is roughly 60 lbs.
- All of the joints are operational, in case the studio plans on using animatronics to "wield" it for a future film.
- The prop will first be shown in Marvel's THOR which is scheduled for release next summer.
- The company who created it also created the Infinity Sword. It stands six feet tall, is encrusted with similar jewels and is perfectly balanced.
