REFLECTIONS: San Diego Comic-Con 2014-My Thoughts and Worthless Opinions

SDCC 2014 is over, but fans are still buzzing about many of the reveals from publishers both big and small. The real question is, what are MY thoughts on all this, since I'm so high and mighty and self-important. Wait. That didn't come out right. Hit the jump to hear my really useless opinions.

Editorial Opinion

So here is another lovely video discussing my oh-so important thoughts and opinions about the major reveals that came out of this past weekend's SDCC.

One of the main things I discuss is the Batman vs. Superman "trailer" that was released. If you're an extreme DC fanboy, you might want to sit this one out, because it's not pretty. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not trashing the movie, or saying it's going to be horrible. I really hope its not. I just share my thoughts and reservations about it, and how it's going to take much more than a CGI trailer with footage that likely won't be in the movie to impress me or ease my fears.

I explain more in the video, so don't be a schmuck. Watch the freaking thing.

I also clearly articulate that I enjoy the work of both of the Big Two just in different ways, so don't get your panties in a bunch.

Before jetting off into the sunset, I wanted to remind you to leave comments, both here and on my channel, as I'd love to hear what your favorite reveal was and why.

Enjoy! Or not. It's really up to you.

P.S. Yes, I know the sound is a bit off. Working with mic placement, plus I work out of my basement (no I don't live with my mom, I got my own digs)so there's always some white noise. It'll get better. I promise.

Tony---you are a MASSIVE troll. I've seen you around here and all you do is try to stir things up, so I'm going to set you straight one time and only one time.

I'm not a Marvel fanboy. If you'd have watched the video, you'd know this. I have a Superman tattoo for crying out loud, plus a Man of Steel poster, stacks of Supes comics and Batman crap all over the place. So shut your hole.

I said I'm not convinced this is going to be a good movie. It has nothing to do with DC vs Marvel, which for some reason you use to bring out your douchetastic side and all it does is make you look like an idiot.

I want BvS to be a good movie, but I'm not convinced. I won't be convinced until the movie comes out and I see it for myself.

However, it's going to make more than a dumb CGI trailer that they ripped out of Dark Knight Returs for me to get me excited. I want to see a REAL TRAILER. When that happens I might care.

I happen to read Marvel more than DC and enjoy their films more. That's my personal taste. If you are so dumb and childish as to want to fight with someone because they like a certain brand of comics over the type you prefer, then you're truly pathetic.

Now I'm done with you.

Everyone was disappointed this year but not me. Everybody was speculating about Marvel revealing Phase 3 and that Dc was going to announce their films. Marvel won't reveal Phase 3 until next year and Dc is going to reveal the fight Batman v. Superman full length trailer and that's it.

hi mike

you felt the need to tell us you are not convinced about the movie from 30 seconds of footage? on a movie 2 years away?0it is blind hate. I dont think you would have said that if it was a marvel movie. look at ant man, bet you are confident about that? its less than a year away, Where is your video about the mess going on there? thats right you dont have one. its because its made by marvel. What sickens me are people like you who try to present themselves as neutral but everything they say,do , and the motives behind them are as transparent as their fears. You have been biased from day one and as long as you continue to be. I will continue to call you out on it.

@mikecantrell83

You are biased you already said in the past that you prefer Marvel than DC http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MetaComix83/news/?a=102128 so your opinion is irrelevant. This article is just a desperate attempt to troll.

Tony...I never once claimed not to be biased. It's impossible not to be biased when it comes to entertainment. I do enjoy Marvel better. Pretty sure I said that. But I'm not a fanboy who thinks everything Marvel does is good.

You mentioned Ant-Man. I'm not excited for this movie at all. I don't care for the character or the direction they're taking it. I wanted Hank Pym to be an Avenger. If any Marvel film is going to fail, it will be this one.

I also hated Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. When it first came out. Didn't care for it until the second half of the season.

That being said, I'm not afraid of BvS being good. I said I'm not excited yet, and from what I've heard I'm not sure it will be good. Didn't say it would suck. Same thing with WW. I don't like Gadot physically for the role but she might be awesome. That's why I said I want a real trailer. Once I see how they actually plan to do things instead of rumors I'll probably be pumped.

As for my early work declaring my fanboy devotion to Marvel, that was me trying to incite a riot here to get people talking. It was stupid and immature. All I can say is I'm sorry.

Again, I do prefer Marvel but I don't think they all they do is perfect. Quite the opposite. I worry everything they are going to butcher a character. Wasn't into Guardians at first either, but after multiple trailers I was sold.

I want a JL movie, so I want BvS to do well. Both characters have deep personal significance to me, so I want them done right. That's all.

I haven't made an Ant-Man video because I don't see any reason to. This movie will likely have no serious cultural impact, unlike BvS which will shape the DC cinematic universe for many years to come. If it does well, it could be the beginning of something awesome. DC tells very different kinds of stories than Marvel and WB has plenty of excellent source material to pull from.

dc currently has TV on lockdown as well.

Believe it or not it's possible to enjoy both despite preferring one.
