RESULTS: What Did You Think Of Cowboys & Aliens?/Are You Interested In A Green Lantern Sequel?

Here are the results for a couple of recent CBM polls, including what exactly you all thought of Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens, and whether you'd like to see a Green Lantern sequel...

Feature Opinion

It's still not out in a few countries just yet, but Cowboys & Aliens has already fought it's way to the #1 spot at the US box office...only to now be sitting at #2 thanks to The Smurfs. After the mixed reviews from critics for Jon Favreau's last movie, Iron Man 2, it's a shame to see his latest comic book movie adaptation not faring all that much better. The only opinions that really matter of course are your own, and while not many of you voted (which might somehwat explain its disappointing performance at the box office) here's what you thought of Cowboys & Aliens!

Following the news that Warner Bros. are considering a sequel to the disappointing Green Lantern (their words, not mine!) I asked you guys whether or not you really want to see them make this movie. With a promise from the studio that it'll be darker, edgier and much better than their first effort, it looks like you guys are willing to let them make things right with a second instalment!

Cowboys and Aliens is a future classic. Bring on a Green Lantern sequel with a better direction, story, budget, and fall/winter release date.

I missed out on the vote but C&A was a lot better than I thought it would be. Harry Ford was great and O. Wilde made me .... happy. Sam Rockwell was very good and Danny Craig was a perfect tough ass cowboy. Great movie. Green Lantern 2? Hellsyeah! but just as everyone is saying, NEW DIRECTOR! I think the rest will take care of its self.

All I want to see from Green Lantern 2 is a battle between Hal and Sinestro because Mark Strong was awesome and really deserves to shine as the main villain.

Green Lantern deserves a second chance. I don't care what anyone says, Reynolds played Hal Jordan well - what sucked wasn't his fault. Was he the best choice? Not by any means, but he was surprisingly good. The biggest problem was the script. I'll lose all faith in Warner Bros. if they bring back those same writers...

And please, for the love of all things good, Ryan - only do it AFTER Deadpool.

@Josh: No reason for asking, just curious - but what factors into the duration of a poll and when the results are finalized?

Lets face it people, Green Lantern deserves a sequel.
The first movie is just the introduction, the sequel will be all the things we want to see in the movie.

Cowboys/Aliens: Good film. Almost didn't bother to go see it. Great cast, good acting, Favrues best directing and good story telling. It has a lot of heart, and Ford is ACTING in this movie. It's a shame that there's some weird and dubious pattern with ctitics. They have Planet of the Apes at a whopping 80+ % on RT right now and there's NO WAY that shit is THAT good. Not much on conspiracies, but I'm starting to be able to predict what they're going to bash and what they're going to praise. I just dont understand the motive yet.

For the sake of continuity, stick with the mess you've made, keep the cast, and make it better. First and foremost, fire the Producer. A large sum of money was mis-managed on horrific CGI FX. Then, get a better director. Green Lantern deserves to be at least decent to get the DC live-action movement... MOVING!

Coboys and alien was pretty good, nothing wow about it, but it was entertaining. And GL was so bad i dont even care for a sequel

There are more than enough Green Lantern fans to be willing to give it a second chance. The gripes about GL were about how it was happening. Not that it was a GL movie.

If they give it another chance and change the direction, I think people will still embrace it.

i havent seen the cowboys and aliens yet but i guess i would say i would like to see it, but regarding the green lantern. Ive been a green lantern for a long time long before the movie. so was i disapointed by the new movie? to a certain degree. did i think it was horrible? no. But im not going to let this movie destroy its image. martin campell did make some bad decisions in green lantern but his other movies casino royale, golden eye, zorro so i believe he has potential and he relized his mistakes and is looking to fix them. i have faith in him to do a good job in a sequal to the movie.

I agree with the first post. GL has potential. It seems Cambell didnt care much for the character so he half assed it. If he didn't, he would have seen how it was edited, asked the writers to rewrite some of the obviously bad dialogue pieces (the bar scene with Caroll... uhhh...), gave Lively a few more takes so she could actually ACT out the scenes she was in, change the sometimes gaudy CGI when a normal suit would have looked more natural (and cheaper to use) and have a decent villian battle with Hammond. Sure he's a lame character, BUT he has telekineses and telepathy... which alone can make for a cool battle.

While I do not hate this movie as much as others, and believe its getting more flack than it deserves, it definately could have been A LOT better. I hope WB gives it another chance and learns from their mistakes.

Yes, GL deserve a second chance! Bring new director, good script, and great cgi-company like ILM or WETA.I want to see more epic space battle between GL corps and Sinestro corps!
ROMACK

GL definetly deserves a second chance. Mark Strong deserves another shot at Sinestro. The CGI people need to stick to animated movies for children.
Ichaos
Ichaos - 8/5/2011, 6:04 AM
They need to make a Lantern sequal just for Sinestros sake.

@Romack a movie like Lantern would be very difficult without CGI. But all the same they didnt need to blow their budget by having all those CGI costumes.

That and send whats his face to an acting school that does not have the frat boy performance class

sure. i'm all for it. Make another green lantern movie. but i will watch it online for free whenever it is available rather than spending money on theaters.

If they had released Green Lantern: first flight to theaters, it would have made more money than that live action crap. GL:FF was freaking awesome.

Green Lantern Comic Books are awesome since they fit with the other Characters in the comics. You Can't really just have a Character get the Ring and use all these powers to create anything they want on their own. When he first used the ring constructs should have been Power Blasts, and then morphed into designs and other items that he can use and manipulate.

Also, Green lantern is a member of a Universal Police force. Should have appeared more like that. You don't show up for work and then Peace out back home a week into the job, cause you can't handle it. There are people in his sector on other plants that are being attacked, or need saving. That is the REASON Hal is chosen and what he wants to become. A Hero that saves people. Green Lantern should not ONLY be about Earth and a short visit to OA. IT SHOULD BE ABOUT A KID THAT WATCH HIS FATHER DIES AND WANTS TO DO ANYTHING HE CAN TO PREVENT THAT FROM HAPPENING TO SOMEONE ELSE. NO MATTER HE HAS TO DO, SACRIFICE, OR GIVE UP (CAROL).

This movie didn't have that heart to it. It was a romance on earth, with some action thrown in... IF the paralax guardian was freed to destroy the universe again would he not attack the other guardians on OA, instead of some guy on Earth?

Would he not attack and possess some other Strong Aliens out there, Lobo, Mogule, etc? Would Hal not fight alongside Sinestro and kilowog to protect everything?
