Jennifer Garner On Possible Daredevil Reboot

Jennifer Garner On Possible Daredevil Reboot

Well its reboot/remake/requel, or my favorite.."reimagining" talk again. This time Jennifer Garner tells what she knows(or doesnt know) about a new "Daredevil"

Though rumors have been buzzing of a potential relaunch of the “Daredevil” franchise at Fox, former “Elektra” star Jennifer Garner hasn’t been involved in any talks that may have occurred so far.

MTV News caught up with Garner during a press event for her upcoming romantic comedy, “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.” When informed that a relaunch is in the works, Garner asked, “Is there really?” She then jokingly added, “Actually, we’re shooting it right now.”

Garner played the Frank Miller-created Greek assassin in both 2003’s “Daredevil” as well as 2005’s “Elektra” spin-off. Of course, behind-the-scenes, she ended up marrying co-star Ben Affleck who, recently, addressed the issue of a relaunch himself and seemed pretty firm in saying that his superhero days are behind him.

Assuming Garner’s lack of info on the project puts her in the same boat, it sounds like a good bet that Fox will go the “Incredible Hulk” and “Punisher: War Zone” route with “Daredevil,” and revamp the franchise completely.

Fox, who also controls the rights to Marvel properties in “Fantastic Four” and “X-Men” needs to move forward with new film versions or else runs the risk of having the rights revert back to Marvel. Back in 1994, the infamous never-released Roger Corman “Fantastic Four” was created entirely to satisfy this same legal angle. Let’s hope that Fox has more positive plans for “Daredevil.”

Down for another film though.

i was satisfied with Daredevil if anything there should be a sequel,

so did i read that right?, fox makes movies just for the [frick] of it just so they wont lose the rights?

Yep, pretty much! I also enjoyed Daredevil, it could have been better but it could have been much worse. Affleck was even ok..and i really liked Garner as Elektra. Colin Farrel was a riot as Bullseye too. And it followed(for the most part) probably the most popular story which is Frank Millers. If they do this reboot i wonder which story from the comic they would pick.

Id prefer a sequel too. But i wouldnt mind some recasting and a different director.

I have to disagree with you guys, I thought DD was terrible. The action, choreographs, acting, was pretty bad. I couldn't stand Ben Affleck, Garner was alright, and I thought King Pin was pretty bad, I don't think this movie was well executed at all.

I think Bullseye was the best thing in that movie. Though I agree no reboot, just make a sequel and make it better then the first. I'm really tired of this rebooting crap.

Has anybody seen the Daredevil Directors cut as that was actually much better than the original (even though there wasn't much added to it). Although when it came out I adored the Daredevil original so I wouldn't mind a sequel. I'm getting a bit sick of these reeboots to be honest as I mean the main thing that the comics have going for them is the continuity (which iswhy spider-man fans have been angry recently) I hope that soon companies like 20th century fox will clock onto this and keep sequels going. I think I would love them to do it James Bond style where they change the actor every few movies but they are still within the same storyline.

They dont need to.
but if they did i would not care.
who would play in it?

No reboot necessary. Just build off the story they have, and they can go into any direction they want with it. I mean, Punisher did it...though that's not that great of an example. Same with Hulk.

Point is, work with what you got, no need for drastic plastic surgery.

If I'm forced to sit through another tacky long winded origin story again....

The directors cut is my favorite marvel movie along with the new Bad Ass punisher movie. haha snoop dog was hilarious. but i say reboot cause jennifer i couldnt see as elektra and ben affleck was a good matt murdock but sucked as daredevil. they need to get a martial artist to play daredevil.

Daredevil wasn't all bad. The suit and weapon were good.

But there were so many things about it that seriously SUCKED.

1. Making his radar power work by sound is SO [frick]ING STUPID. They turned his most important power into stupid echo location, which, if you understood daredevil's fighting style you would understand why that's bad. For combat purposes Daredevil's radar is better than sight. It tells him a 3D mental image EVERYHTING that is happening around him 360 degrees. He can "see" around corners and behind him perfectly. Every move that is made and the basic shape of every object in his vicinity registers in his mind instantly. And this tells him important things like when someones finger pulls a trigger, and the precise tragactory of the bullet.
But in the stupid movie he had to bang on a piece of metal to even find out a bad guy was hiding behid something. His aradar power is what allows him to climb and jump around on buildings without falling. His perception tells him things a sighted person wouldn't be able to catch. Screw that.

2 Dialogue and plot were aweful.
Daredevil in the comics talks like you and me. In the movie he just makes reference after reference to his blindness. Over and over he mentions it. It was so lame. The cliches in this movie nearly killed me with cheesyness. It's like the writer took the dialogue from a bunch of greeting cards and bad 70's martial arts flicks and knit it all together.
lol is there anybody in the marvel Universe whose father Kingpin didn't kill?

3.And lets not forget the final fight. lol a stupid double kick to the BACK OF TH KNEES??? WTF is that supposed to do? make Kingpin laugh? i think the idea is that that was supposed to break both of his knees, but no, sorry it would never work. You have to kick the side of the knee to break it. Front or back just won't do it.

I could go on for days.

dare devil was a good flick ben was decent as dd alto hes getting a little long it the tooth. this rebootng thing is getting played out. but maybe it has to be done because some one else owns the ip of the origional screen play and marvel cant continue from that for legal actions. hummmm could be
nick cage for daredevil

MarkCassidy - 4/24/2009, 12:41 PM
Well Juggy,

1) He had the sonar sense in the movie at all times, sound did amplify it but seriously, is that really something to be getting that worked up over? a slight deviation in his abilities?

2) That suit was awful, lol, the one thing you did like was one of the worst things about it for me. With that big stupid zip straight down the middle he looked like a gay hells angel.

3) The dialogue wasnt great, but i have heard a lot worse too. It didnt annoy me that much really. i only remember even saying the word blind once and that was in the intro! So not sure were your getting the constant referencing from. And the plot was very good i thought.

4) Its a kick to the front of the knees and believe me if you kicked someone full force straight in the knee caps, they aint walking anywhere anytime soon.

Your reasons for not liking it are kinda strange, you could say similar about pretty much any comic book movie there is. Realism isnt they're strong suit.

My issues with the movie were like stunblins, the fight scenes and choreography really let it down..that playground scene was cringy, and Affleck wasnt quite good enough. Other than that i think its better than FF 1 and 2, Ghost Rider, Punisher(both of them), Spidey 3 and X 3..but for some reason it gets lumped in with them as "one of the bad ones"..i demand a recount! Lets get Daredevil back on the good side!
DarkAvengers
DarkAvengers - 4/24/2009, 1:00 PM
The suit was perfect. Whats he supposed to do, run around in a bright red spandex suit, like in the books? Thats ridiculous. The movie suit was awesome when he had it zipped all the way up. It actually looked real enough. Meaning, it didnt make him look gay.

For some reason, i can see Josh Hartnett or Aaron Eckhart as Daredevil. Please do not cast, horrible, Jason Statham in this role. Hes a joke.
loganaspatch
loganaspatch - 4/24/2009, 1:02 PM
yeah the kick was to the front of the knees and it made me cringe!

i thought the sonar idea was pretty good sorta like a bat or a dolphin people that arent into comics could actually relate and see oh okay thats a pretty good idea, atleast i thought so

but hey i liked the suit! lol

theres just people on each side of the fence on this movie

i would say its better then the punisher movies, way less annoying then spiderman 3 as far as action and visuals its not as good as x3.. cmon magneto moved the golden gate bridge you gotta give it points for that
i liked ff2 .. its just tough to get a spot on daredevil, when did it come out wasnt it one of the first comicbook movies after the success of xmen? thats gotta account for something.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 4/24/2009, 1:05 PM
No, they could have kept the suit leather just made it look more like the comic. If there had to be a zip it could have went somewhere else, not straight up the middle! It looked like a red biker jacket. Add the leather pants and without the mask he could have doubled as a Tom Jones impersonator.

[frick] Statham, he is a joke. Eckhart would be good as would that dude from Dexter

I liked daredevil very much

they jus need better special effects and very good stunt men
not computer fx but real stunts ) and fight

it will be very fine to make a seaquel with

the Frank Millers Graphin Novel ( born Again) this is the best comic book ever ........and the movie will be fine )))

@Rorschach01

Excellent call on the dude from Dexter (Michael C. Hall) as Matt Murdock/DareDevil. I read your response and it was like someone slapped me with a "OBVIOUS" hand upside the head. If they are doing any reebooting do it to the daredevil suit and make it more like the comics.

For Elektra I wouldn't mind seeing the chick from NCIS (Cote de Pablo) with some training and some conditioning I think she could pull it off.

Dexter would be good, also am I the only one that liked the outfit. I mean when you put it up against the x-men movie outfits, I think they did a great job turning tights into a real costume.

i think fox should let the rights lapse so marvel can come in and kick ass.

that's the main difference that made hulk and iron man better.
NO FOX!!

fanboys will never be satisfied otherwise.(seems like fox doesn't care)
fox's priorities...
1) money
2) money
3) money

notice integrity isn't even on the list.

let's face it the big corp.s just want to make more money and the comics themselves are not top priority.

OMG!!! : D ... I just wrote alot and it wouldn't go through lol, that'll teach me heh! Basically BULLSEYE was the best thing in DD and ELECTRA was the worst!!! (Cardboard acting for one thing). She was way better in ELECTRA spin off, but because that didn't make much, i suppose thats why we didn't get a DD 2!!! Lmao, if FOX asked AFFLECK to do DD 2 he would!!! Yeah i like it, DEXTER guy would be a good pick! DD just ain't all muscle! Though i think we should stay away from ELECTRA and if not having Colin's BULLSEYE back, stay away from that too, an have new villains! ; )

If its a reboot, I don't want to see anyone from the first one. Thats the point of a reboot, to start over fresh, new story, new cast, new and better everything.

Wow. I've never heard so many people admit that they liked Daredevil. I thought I was the only one.
I would like to see a sequel over a reboot regardless of who is starring. Which villain should star? Mr. Fear?
SpiderBat209
SpiderBat209 - 4/24/2009, 4:55 PM
Mr. Fear, The Hand, Bullseye (Round 2), or maybe Echo. I'm not too familiar with DD's rogues. I always wanted to jump on the DD bandwagon, but couldn't fit it into my budget with my other favs. Things are looking up now, so I'll be checking out that DareDevil: Born Again, everybody keeps talking about.

Can anybody else recommend any other DD Trades or Graphic Novels I should scope out? Much appreciated. :)

Daredevil wasn't the best movie but it was fine they should leave it alone. He's not that popular anyway to need a reboot like The Hulk did. Also the new Hulk was kind of a sequel and brought it into the world Marvel is trying to bring to the big screen by connecting it with Iron Man and soon Thor and Captain America. Punisher War Zone I do not consider a reboot and also it doesn't look good anyway. They need to move on to new stories and new characters and not make this rebooting thing a new lame trend.

Daredevil was actually a good movie. It pretty much stuck to the books if we cover all the important points. Matt Murdock's character was spot on. DD's look and attitude was perfect. Basic origin story accurate. Villains portrayed as they should. Death of Elektra by Bullseye priceless. There arent other Fox movies that you could say that about. Needed better choreo but its ok.

The only think i hated was the playground fight. For a blind lawyer jumping around and balancing like a circus freak in broad daylight, nobody seemed to care. But at least Elektra buried her Dad though... someone's loved one recently came back coz he didnt freakin bury her.

If they do a remake, i think they should make this really dark. Leave the fancy antics like playground fights and go TDK on DD. That would be the best route to go.
TheMyth
TheMyth - 4/24/2009, 7:16 PM
While I certainly agree that Statham is a badass, he wouldn't be able to lose the accent. As for Statham with hair, watch a movie called "Revolver" One of his best.

I hope they do an adaptation of Miller's work with the character. That would certainly grab that gritty darkness and reality we'd all love to see in a DD movie.

The first onecould have been a lot better with very few changes. Aside from small things like that broad daylight playground fight, DD's costume just didn't click to me, but more than anything, Afflecks fight choreography.

While I can't think of anyone to play DD, I do have a good one for Kingpin. Paul Wight. Now hear me out, I have seen this guy in a few interviews with different people and I have been greatly impressed by his articulation and fast wit. I always thought he must be some huge dolt, but I think he could do it. I can see him now in the white suit with a stogie.

HOLY CRAP!! FRANK MILLER IS A DIRECTOR NOW, GET HIM TO [frick]ING MAKE IT!!!!! HE DID THE DAMN COMICS.

i was pondering this, make daredevil more serious. and re-cont the powers, and fix the suit a bit, no need to go crazy.

and keep original cast!!!!!!!!!!!! I HATE RECASTING!! HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE RECASTING!

THE ACTORS ARE PUPPETS!! nothing more then puppets. it's the writters and directors that make bad movies. not the actors. actors are puppets actors are puppets actors are puppets get it into your heads actors are puppets.

Director: frank miller
villian: the hand
style like the spirit. the sylowette or what ever it's called was made for daredevil.
