IRON FIST Star Jessica Henwick Claims Recent Cancellations Made By Netflix, Not Disney; Shows Could Be Revived

Despite many rumor and speculation to the contrary, it seems that the recent string of cancellations at Netflix are not, in fact, on the part of Disney.

While there has been much speculation as to the reasons why Marvel's Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage series were cancelled, with some even blaming Disney's family-friendly Disney Plus service as the cause, it seems the root of the cancellations lies with Netflix. According to a report, a fan was told by Iron Fist star Jessica Henwick that the decision was made by Netflix and not anyone at Disney or Marvel (this has been supported by Daredevil writers on Twitter saying that Marvel execs were just as shocked as they were at the show being cancelled). She then also said that she believed all the other Marvel shows on Netflix would also be cancelled, but also indicated there was a chance fan support could get the shows revived.

While many have supposed that Disney is planning on rebooting the shows, Iger's statements that the Disney Plus service is family friendly certainly rule out that option. After the announcement of Daredevil's cancellation, Marvel had released a second statement implying fans had not seen the last of Daredevil, though what that means is unclear. Had he filmed cameos in the upcoming (and seemingly final) seasons of Punisher or Jessica Jones? Will the Netflix characters be able to travel between shows and networks, similar to how Constantine was able to migrate and guest star in Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow on the CW after his own show ended on NBC? Could the shows potentially get a revival on Hulu, or potentially the FX or FXX networks, both of which have had a relationship with Marvel Television in the past (both with Legion and the aborted Deadpool series respectively)? Whatever Marvel's plans are for the characters, one thing seems certain: Disney wasn't the one who cancelled the shows.

Part 2/2 Sooo basically at one point Netflix stopped giving a shit about the shows because they were gonna cancel them anyways? How? When? Why? Also screw those claims that the Netflix people didn't like the script for Luke Cage season 3 and cancelled it because of that. That's bullshit because Daredevil obviously had an amazing script for season 4. This in addition to the nonexistent advertisement for anything Marvel on the Netflix accounts shows that they've definitely been wanting to get rid of them for some time. They also didn't want them to succeed. I just wanna know the reason. - #jessicahenwick #germancomiccon #gcc #panel #ironfist #daredevil #renewironfist #renewdaredevil #saveironfist #savedaredevil #savemarvelnetflix #bringbackironfist #bringdaredevilback #marvel #mcu #netflix #disney #[frick]netflix #daredevilseason4 #ironfistseason3 #lukecageseason3

@MixMasterA - i mean its probably disney's fault too. they supposedly raised the price of a season renewal so high that is was no longer profitable for netflix to make another season. tax to film in new york also went up. disney+ and hulu are the real culprits. disney like warner bros is obviously just trying to reclaim all their licenses they sold to the competition. early this year they even tried to force a renegotiation for star wars tv rights, but loss because they sold it fair and square to the cable services which wont expire for another 10 years.

You should link these videos from scarfed.vigilante's profile, I think it would work better than a link to a tweet which has a screenshot of one of his posts' caption.

Maybe just say 'Jessica Henwick' in the title, too, but I don't know. Thanks for the article!

Talk about Disney making a lot of shitty decisions, but don't forget about Netflix. They've been cancelling more than just the Marvel shows in the last 2 months.

@Kurne - If it wasn’t for Del Toro’s cartoons & his stop motion animated Pinocchio movie; I’d stop watching Netflix

Man, if only people had been saying this all along and not have idiots screaming bloody murder at Disney for something they really didn't care about. Marvel has been pretty hands off from Disney so I don't see why they would be mad that shows on another streaming service would be advertising for the shows on their own services. Like how many people watched Runaways on Hulu even thought they also watched the Netflix Marvel stuff?

Netflix has been very petty ever since Disney decided to make their own streaming service and pull Disney Movies’s from there. I will be cancelling my Netflix subscription pretty soon.

Lies, Disney is full of it.

@billnye69 - Why would Disney cancel?

Let’s think about this logically. Netflix would give Disney money to create the shows which would appear on Netflix

Why would Disney cancel shows they weren’t paying to produce?

i'm pretty sure Punisher will be also cancelled after season 2. i have a hunch that Marvel won't allow any network to revive any of those series (well, i guess Daredevil could end up being an exception here). Disney will have their own Marvel shows (not as dark, obviously) so most of the people will forget about this whole affair pretty fast.

....that was quite obvious from the get go, never understood why people started blaming Disney and Marvel (Studios and Tv) for this mess. It's all netflix, they don't need these shows any longer therefore they chopped their heads off, as amazing as some seasons were as well as shitty some were, netflix is the only to point fingers at.

DD S3 was a thing of beauty and passion, you don't shoot a bullet to something like it.. just like that, i really hope these characters are given a chance somewhere somehow, because there's room for improvement as there is the need for some of this characters stories to keep going.

I was going to cancel netflix anyway, by doing this they just gave me one last silver bullet. I'll wait for some more details and info om Disney+ before cancelling, Disney's giving something i really want anyway, any kind of netflix content that appeals me i'll watch it somewhere else free of charges.

I agree with Henwick. If we make enough fan support and sign enough petitions, Disney might consider bringing back the Marvel-Netflix shows on FXX along with Agent Carter S3 and Inhumans S2 on Disney Plus. We never saw the cliffhangers get resolved in those shows.

@brodie999 - I don’t think any petition could bring Inhumans back.🤮

@RolandD - I know. But a lot of fans actually liked the show and they want it back so badly despite its flaws. So I know you didn't like the show, but at least we can give it a chance and try to bring it back just like all the other MCU shows.
