2018 is going to be a big year for Josh Brolin. First up is Avengers: Infinity War, arguably the biggest superhero movie of all-time and he'll follow that with Deadpool 2, the follow-up to the most successful R-Rated release in history. While it may seem odd that the actor is taking on the role of two different Marvel characters in the space of a couple of months, they're very different and live in different worlds.
Given the Merc with the Mouth's habit of breaking the fourth wall, you'd best believe that Wade Wilson will reference the big purple alien played by Brolin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that's sure to result in some very funny moments involving him and Cable. This taking place was pretty much confirmed by the actor during an interview to promote his role as Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.
You’re playing Cable in Deadpool 2, as well. It’s an interesting coincidence that you’re playing these two Marvel Comics characters. Deadpool is so self-referential, I wondered if they ended up slipping any Thanos jokes into your dialogue.
I can’t imagine there’s not going to be any. [Laughs] I’ll put it that way. I’m up here right now in snowy Vancouver doing reshoots for Deadpool. Given that it’s a satire of all superhero movies, especially Marvel movies, how can you not?
Only fans of the franchise will probably pick up on these references but that's what makes a character like Deadpool so great (remember those nods to Ryan Reynolds' time as Green Lantern in the first movie?). How many digs at Thanos do you think the sequel will squeeze in? Share your thoughts below.
