In Deadpool 2, Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) put together a proto version of X-Force to help rescue Firefist (Julian Dennison) from Cable (Josh Brolin). The team consisted of Domino, Bedlam, Zeitgeist, Vanisher, Shatterstar and a regular human named Peter Wisdom.
Unfortunately, only Zazie Beetz's super-lucky Domino survived when the others were killed-off in hilariously short order.
Towards the end of the movie, The Merc With a Mouth uses Cable's time-travel tech to go back and stop Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) from being killed, and tells Peter to "walk away" while he's at it, saving him from a gruesome demise.
Now, Deadline is reporting that Rob Delaney will reprise the role for Deadpool 3.
We don't know if Peter will be joined by the rest of his X-Force teammates (we didn't see Deadpool save the others, but assume he did), but it's a strong possibility.
Baccarin, Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), and Stefan Kapicic (Colossus) will also return as their respective characters, and they'll be joined by Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and franchise newcomers Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), whose roles are still under wraps.
Plot details also remain a mystery for now, but Wade and Wolvie are expected to find themselves (trapped?) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A recent rumor claimed that Loki's TVA, including Agent Mobius (Owen Wilson) and Miss Minutes, will be involved.
We have also been led to believe that Wade's MCU debut will be far more integral to Phase 5 and beyond than we first realized.
Shawn Levy will direct Deadpool 3, which is set to hit theaters on September 6, 2024.
