Earlier today,
21st Century Fox announced that it has completed the distribution of all issued and outstanding shares in connection with the Disney acquisition. In other words, it's a done deal!
Shortly after the news hit,
Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds shared the following image of Wade Wilson sitting on a Disney bus sporting Mickey Mouse ears, along with the caption, "Feels like the first day of 'Pool."
Does Reynolds know something we don't, or is he just having some fun? It has already been confirmed that Disney will continue to release movies under the 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight banners - and that includes R-rated content. This has led to speculation that the Deadpool franchise could continue as is, without needing to be fully integrated into The MCU.
We'll have to wait and see how things shake out on that front, but if there's one character that could actually benefit from this acquisition by gaining a wealth of new material, it's the ever-meta Merc With a Mouth.
