Emma Corrin (who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns) has made a huge impact in recent years, whether it's in The Crown, Pennyworth, My Policeman, or Lady Chatterley's Lover.
Among their other projects on the way are A Murder At The End Of The World, Nosferatu, and Marvel Studios' Deadpool 3.
The latter movie will see Corrin play a villain for the first time in their career, with the prevailing theory being that their character is the threequel's big bad. However, we don't currently know who they're playing, especially amid rumours Deadpool 3's big bad is going to be a familiar face from the MCU!
Talking to Empire Online about joining the R-Rated franchise, Corrin said, "I feel really excited to play a villain. I haven’t done that, and it’s an itch I want to scratch."
"I’d heard about [Deadpool 3] but, classic Marvel, they couldn’t tell me anything about it. Absolutely nothing. Zilch," they add. "So I met [director Shawn Levy] being like, "I don’t know what this is about.'"
As you might expect, stepping into the MCU was no easy feat for an actor who was by no means an expert on all-things Marvel. "Hands up, I’m not a Marvel person," Corrin admits. "I’ve watched Spider-Man and Black Panther. I was like, 'Look, you’re gonna have to debrief me into this.' It’s such an intricate world."
"There’s so much to it, it’s an absolute mind-[frick]. All the language and the Easter eggs, and this person is related to that person who did this, and this person came back and this person’s dead...it’s amazing. I really understand why it means as much as it does to so many people."
"It’s a phenomenon, and I feel really lucky to be part of it," they conclude. "Especially Deadpool, because I love the fact that it’s self-aware, and critical of its own inner-workings."
Only time will tell when we learn who Corrin is playing in Deadpool 3, but with the TVA expected to be an integral part of the story, it's always possible their character is the one looking to permanently prune Wolverine and Deadpool from any and all timelines!
Deadpool 3 is set to be released in theaters on May 3, 2024.
