Joe Manganiello Says DEATHSTROKE's Return To The DCEU Is Still "In The Works"

It's been quite some time since we heard anything about Gareth Evans' rumoured Deathstroke movie and now Joe Manganiello has weighed in on what the future may or may not hold for Slade Wilson...

Deathstroke made a brief appearance at the end of Justice League in a scene which was clearly meant to tease his role in The Batman when Ben Affleck was still attached to direct. Because that's no longer happening, we have no idea what the future holds in store for the character and while rumours have swirled about a solo movie directed by The Raid's Gareth Evans, that's far from official as of right now.

At Comic-Con, Joe Manganiello was asked about his future as the fan-favourite DC Comics and while it sounds like something might be in the works for Slade Wilson, nothing is set in stone quite yet.

"I say, ‘It’s in the works,’ because it is and there’s nothing further that I can say without speaking out of school," the actor explains below when asked what comes next for him, "because I’m part of a team, I’m a part of a locker room — you don’t talk outside the locker room. But all I can say is, for the hardcore fans, it’s in the works. They want the character to happen, it’s just when he happens."

While he wouldn't offer any specifics on where Deathstroke might show up, Manganiello did say that his priority is getting the character right. "I think everybody is committed to that," he concluded.

Which means they are just reassuring Manganiello by telling him "we're working on it."

And yet DC/WB will still continue their interference with the Arrowverse and prevent Slade from returning, again.

@guyatadesk - Definitely one of the best shows that Disney has ever put out. It's a shame we'll never get another show like that. Now it's all angsty teen dramadies and terrible animation.

@NOVAtheSUPA -

If they bring him back and as rumors suggested once, for his own movie, they need a solid actor and one helluva script. Joe seems nice, but not him.

The suit looks great though.

@Humperdink - warner has done well with really bad actors so far they surrounded both Gal and Mamoa with talent so who knows maybe Joe can pull it off

@WakandaTech - That would be amazing, although I bet Birds of Prey will end up in one of those 2020 spots from the sounds of it.

This means he probably won't be in Suicide Squad 2 (like some were hoping).

I bet they're trying to figure out a way to put him in Reeves' Batman film.

Well, I love the character and do hope he shows up and Joe (if stays in the role) nails it.

I don't really like the casting, but hope for the best.
