BOX OFFICE: BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Knocks IRON MAN 3 Out Of The Top 10 Highest Grossing Movies Worldwide

Beauty and the Beast made another $2.4 million domestically and $11 million overseas this past weekend, and this was enough to push it past Iron Man 3 ($1.214 billion). The Emma Watson-led film now currently stands at $497.8 million domestically and $1.222 billion worldwide. It is projected to cross the $500 million domestic milestone by the end of next Memorial Weekend, and it will likely finish slightly below fellow Disney film Frozen ($1.277 billion). Beauty and the Beast is currently the highest grossing film of 2017 and is very likely to keep its crown both domestically and worldwide until Star Wars: The Last Jedi is released this upcoming December.

Another movie passed $1.2 billion worldwide this weekend. That was The Fate of the Furious and it currently stands at $219.9 million domestically and $1.212 worldwide. It is expected to pass Iron Man 3 sometime in the next week. While its domestic numbers seem low, Fast 8 has nearly made $1 billion alone overseas thanks in part to China ($390 million). Fast 8 is expected to make just a little more at the box office since it has already opened everywhere and there is more upcoming competition.

@TheGreenGusblin - lol!

There is a slim possibility BTAB will passed Frozen. Frozen had long legs in Japan, it stayed in cinemas for 5 months and it grossed over 200 million. Alice in Wonderland grossed around 133 million for 3 months in Japan. Beauty and the Beast opened in April 21 and it grossed around 70 million for 1 month and currently on number 1 spot for 4 consecutive weeks beating GTOG2 and Fast and Furious. If BTAB will stick for another 2 more months in Japan, it has a stronger chances to add another 50 millions or more. Its greatest competition is Pirates of Caribbean which grossed also over 100 millions in 2 months run. They are the same company. Disney still wins

POTC and other movies will release in July and August. I see a possibility that BTAB will really add another 50 or 70 million before its theatrical ends in Japan. Now I understand why Disney has an estimates of over 120 or 130 million for BTAB in Japan, that is the lowest estimates..

I watched beauty and beast, but it was very scary. I have two fears.

1. the cat in the hat
2. french people having organised dancing.

Good show. I did not realize it was a hallucination of legion in the end though

I was disappointed with both films. Not enough creativity went into remaking Beauty & The Beast and it was too childish. Sure, made with children in mind, but there is a difference between being generally kid-friendly and childishly silly. The Incredibles, for instance, was very clever so that grown-ups and kids would love it. Emma Watson and Gaston were both very good in their roles, and others, but to bring the classic to screen again, it woulda benefited from being made by a better director, more realism. (I Hate when cgi doesn't blend seamlessly with the real)
