Disney-Fox Deal Is Expected To Be Finalized By Mid-March

Though it was initially reported that the Disney-Fox deal would be finalized by late 2018, we now have word that everything is expected to be ironed out over the next couple of weeks. More past the jump.

We've been waiting for word on the Disney-Fox deal approval for quite a while now, and it looks like that's just around the corner.

According to Deadline, one of the final steps in the regulatory review of the massive $71.3 billion deal will be taken today when regulators in Brazil officially approve the transaction. However, there is still a final closing period of about 10 days to ensure that all the "Ts are crossed and Is dotted."

This means that we should get some kind of official announcement that the deal has closed next month.

The implications of this deal are far-reaching (to say the least), but we're obviously paying closest attention to Marvel Studios' plans for Fox's stable of X-Men and Fantastic Four characters. Once the deal is finalized we may begin to get a clearer picture of what Marvel has in store on that front, but fans shouldn't expect any major revelations right off the bat.

Perhaps we'll finally get some details once the studio is good and ready to share its Phase 4 plans.

Well its not the best case scenario for the industry but it's much better than Comcast getting it. And yes, i'm biased since i want all Marvel characters in the MCU but that's just a side effect.

Ultyimately it was Fox that wanted to sell, no one forced them.

@Jeight8 - Yep, they were selling regardless. It was Disney or Comcast. The lesser evil won.

@Jeight8 - I remember some people wanting Comcast to win out of spite. I mean seriously, I've heard some pretty bad and unethical things about Comcast. Don't they advocate for net neutrality or something?

FOX chose to sell, and yes that means so many jobs will be lost which sucks in so many ways. But Disney is the better choice.

@DnA - Universal and Sony still have fragments of the Hulk and Spidey stones, but yeah, he's gonna be pretty damn juiced.
