Fans were hoping to get some updates and announcements about the upcoming Disney+ Marvel and Star Wars shows at a press event this Thursday in London, but Disney has now been forced to cancel the industry gathering amid growing concerns over the spread of Coronavirus.

We didn't have any specific details on what was going to be announced, but there's a good chance we would have got confirmed premiere dates for the streaming service's Marvel TV shows such as Loki, WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Solider. We might also have received word on some of the as-yet unannounced series we know are currently in the works.

Disney will still promote the Disney+ launch through social media and press notices. The company is also expected to showcase the streaming service to select journalists during a demo in central London on Friday.

Here's the official statement: “Due to a number of media attendee cancellations and increasing concerns at the prospect of traveling internationally at this time, we have decided to cancel our Disney+ launch events scheduled to take place on Thursday and Friday.”

@Necropolitan - its really not as bad as the medias making it out to be. I work in a school and legitimately the only precaution the cdc is giving us is to make sure everyone washes their hands.

@TheJustinHammer - It is not a flu. It's a respiratory virus that turns into a stronger form of Pneumonia.

For anyone freaking out over this, Dr. Drew puts it a bit more in perspective here.

@GhostofCipher - ""All over this thread"? I replied twice within 47 comments.
And didn't say it's "as bad as the spanish flu". Just wanted to point out viral epidemics don't always die out because it's getting warmer. Sometimes they come back much stronger when it gets cold again, hence that reminder.
And for @TheJustinHammer :
No, it's not a flu. For flu we got vaccines every year.
This is some kind of SARS, a lung disease. Symptoms are similar.
But not the same.

@GhostofCipher - Sorry, just checked. I replied three times out of 47. And another one with a joke. I'm nowhere near as alarming as you suggested I was.
I'm pretty chill about it. Just correcting things.

But you can get a vaccine before the wave hits. That's science for you, bitch!

If there's anything that can help with limiting the spread of a virus it's a streaming service.

Bummer to those who want to attend but it's good they're take precautions. This whole thing is driving everyone around me crazy which in turn is driving me crazy. I'm trying to stay upbeat because right now this virus is the least of my worries. Life is hard enough as it is. Just gotta hang tough and things will be fine.
