With the talent involved, Lady and the Tramp is slowly getting the attention of many Disney fans. As one of Disney's many upcoming live action remakes, it is no surprise that stars are lining up for the films they grew up with. The latest to join the cast is indie breakout Thomas Mann.
According to Variety, Thomas Mann, known for his roles in Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, as well as 2016's Kong: Skull Island, has landed the character of Jim Dear. In the 1955 classic Jim Dear served as Lady's owner. He is expected to be one of the few human leads in the film.
2019 will see the release of director Charlie Bean's (The Lego Ninjago Movie) film. Set to rely on mostly computer generated characters, similar to The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast, it will be interesting to see how the visual effects compare. This is due to the fact that Lady and the Tramp will debut on the Disney streaming service, rather than receiving a traditional theatrical release.
