Disney has released a new teaser for
Mary Poppins Returns, giving us a sneak peek at the magic that awaits our return to Cherry Tree Lane. While the teaser is filled with all sorts of fun and exciting moments, the best part kicks in about halfway through when we're treated to a snippet of one of the film's original songs.
The new song is performed by none other than Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda (
Hamilton), who plays Jack the Lamplighter. An old friend of Poppins, Jack is
"a charming, optimistic lamplighter who brings light – and life – to the streets of London and everyone around him." Jack's optimism is on display in the song as he sings about remaining positive even when life has got you down.
In Disney’s “Mary Poppins Returns,” an all new original musical and sequel, Mary Poppins is back to help the next generation of the Banks family find the joy and wonder missing in their lives following a personal loss. Emily Blunt stars as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any ordinary task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure and Lin-Manuel Miranda plays her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter who helps bring light—and life—to the streets of London.
Mary Poppins Returns makes its way into theaters on December 19.
