Disney has released a new teaser for Mary Poppins Returns, giving us a sneak peek at the magic that awaits our return to Cherry Tree Lane. While the teaser is filled with all sorts of fun and exciting moments, the best part kicks in about halfway through when we're treated to a snippet of one of the film's original songs.

The new song is performed by none other than Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton), who plays Jack the Lamplighter. An old friend of Poppins, Jack is "a charming, optimistic lamplighter who brings light – and life – to the streets of London and everyone around him." Jack's optimism is on display in the song as he sings about remaining positive even when life has got you down.

In Disney’s “Mary Poppins Returns,” an all new original musical and sequel, Mary Poppins is back to help the next generation of the Banks family find the joy and wonder missing in their lives following a personal loss. Emily Blunt stars as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any ordinary task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure and Lin-Manuel Miranda plays her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter who helps bring light—and life—to the streets of London.

Mary Poppins Returns makes its way into theaters on December 19.

I like how they still stuck with the 2D animation for some of it instead of doing all CGI bs.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - It's still CGI you understand that right. Just because the models are developed for a "2D" perspective, it's all still CGI. They are splicing cells together to get that "2d" artwork onto the frame.
It's like 100% american manufacturing even though the compoents to make all the materials comes from another country.

@storyteller - I'm talking about the aesthetic, not the actual way it's done.

Poppins is a whackadoo who gaslights families for fun. I've never liked this crazy nanny.

Looking forward to it. It looks very true to the original and Lin-Manuel Miranda is slowly becoming the go-to musical guy with Hamilton, Moana and now this.

@L0RDbuckethead - Thanks. Sorry for the late reply. Work has kept me very busy and I have been away from the site for a while. I've been playing the Pikachu version nonstop since last Friday. Great game. It brings back a lot of fond memories of the old Yellow version.

@agent025 - yeah I really like it so far. I have the Eevee version, which is just different enough from Yellow that it doesn't just feel like I'm replaying Yellow.

Another dead mother in a Disney movie? Well if it ain't broke fix it. How crazy would it be if theirs just an alternate reality where Walt Disney is just massacring parents?

Mary Poppins' has the smile of a super crazed serial killer when she falls in backwards into that bathtub. I like it!

The title should be Mary Poppins: Scared Straight. One cold-blooded smile from the uncanny nanny would leave those kids terrified to ever cross her. Their weeping dad will never find their bodies if they dare to piss her off.

@ArthurFleck - What? ...yeah of course I especially like the issue where the League find out she's an imp from the 5th dimension, like myzptlk, and they proceed to beat her up.....Batman beats Lin manuel Miranda because he's so [frick]ing sick of seeing him and hearing about Hamilton lol.
