SNOW WHITE Star Rachel Zegler Demands To Be Paid For Every Hour The Movie Is Streamed On SAG-AFTRA Picket Line

Shazam! Fury of the Gods star Rachel Zegler is the latest actor to hit the SAG-AFTRA picket lines, and she has some big demands for her Snow White employers, Walt Disney Studios. Read on for details...

We can't shake the feeling Disney's upcoming Snow White remake is doomed before so much as a single frame of footage is released. In recent weeks, for example, the movie has been embroiled in controversy due to the decision to cut the Seven Dwarfs in what many feel is political correctness gone mad.

What was once one of the studio's most highly anticipated live-action reboots has been besieged by negative headlines before its planned 2024 release, and many fans are wondering if it will debut on streaming instead of the big screen.

While time will tell whether a Disney+ debut eventually happens, streamers like that are one of the many reasons writers and actors are currently on strike. Now, Snow White herself, Rachel Zegler, has hit the picket lines.

"If I'm gonna stand there 18 hours a day in the dress of an iconic Disney Princess," the Shazam!: Fury of the Gods star says in the video below (via Toonado.com), "I deserve to be paid for every hour that it's streamed online."

Something tells us Disney isn't going to appreciate these comments, but like many actors, Zegler is looking to be paid in perpetuity for Snow White when it hits Disney+ and is viewed over and over and over by paying subscribers.

It's an understandable request, albeit one it could be hard to put a price tag on for studios who currently keep streaming viewership data a closely guarded secret.

The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb helms Snow White, while Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot is set to play the movie's Evil Queen. Very little has been revealed about this reimagining, though all signs point to it taking some liberties with the classic animated feature it's based on.

Snow White is set to be released in theaters on March 22, 2024.

Imagine the reality where Gal Gadot, as the Evil Queen, would be jealous of Rachel Ziegler’s looks. Maybe they are taking out that plot point in this new Snow White or making Gadot ugly using makeup. Ziegler certainly is a cute girl, but objectively Gadot is much more beautiful.

@mountainman - eh I can see a reality where a evil gal is realizing she aging and is jealous of a younger women. Works in my opinion, also beautiful woman being insecure isn't hard to believe

@mountainman - Man, the evil queen was hotter in the animated film too. We all know the mirror was [frick]ing with her, sending her on some wild goose chase or he just doesn't like pussy over 35.

Let’s all be honest here. Comicbookmovie releases these articles with clickbait-angsty titles with opinions automatically built in, thereby leading the reader along to certain conclusions.

Imma be the first to say, I honestly know nothing about how the film industry really works on a financial/ compensation level and if everyone here was smart they’d admit the same thing before letting wilding rile them up and mistakenly post something uninformed.

@HulkisHoly - I wasn't expecting BARS. If only we had more people with this level of intellect instead of brainless morons ready to scream for some attention and being tricked by the higher ups into doing their work for them and feeding them more power. Same sh1t with politics.

@Typhoon20 -

What I said applies to political media as well. I’m tired of articles with bias inflammatory headlines. We need FACTS…pure simple facts. We don’t need division and tribalism. Journalism is supposed to be about reporting THE TRUTH. Not “your truth”.

When Snow White flops you should count yourself lucky that you got paid in the first place.

I don't think many will even stream this shit,I won't ever watch it.

@marvel72 - I heard a rumor that Iger was actually trying to pull the plug on the entire movie. it's only about 25 percent done and there were many on the Disney board to vote for pulling it, but enough voted to keep it. So the rumor continued that Iger may change the movie because it's early enough to do so.

But rumors are rumors so....

Not even Marlon Brando would have been able to get that

Hell every one of Chris Nolan's demands were met by Universal when he offered them Oppenhemier and not even he would be able to get that

The funny thing is we've seen the set photos. So when those residuals show up to basically be nothing, everyone will know why but her.

And before you say "she deserves to be paid", she did. Residuals are purely there based on the profits of the project. Nobody watches, no residuals.

Most people would get this, understand that giving a good product people want to see will lead to more residuals. But then again most people aren't living in Hollywood.
JDL
JDL - 8/6/2023, 6:14 AM
@Origame - Residuals don't work the way you think.
1) The term is not meant for movie downstream revenues; TV, cable, and streaming only. In movies the term used is participation.
2) Residuals are based on the license fee and that is a flat amount for a given period of time.
3) Profit/Revenue sharing for TV, cable, and streaming is rare. The only occurances I have ever heard about were show creators and/or copyright holders.

Recently you should have read of lots of wailing about shows being dropped from streamers. This is to stop further license fee payments. It's much less of a problem with linear TV and cable since they have limits on the amount of material they can carry (far fewer shows that have bad viewership than streamers) and ads.
Origame
Origame - 8/6/2023, 8:02 AM
@JDL - none of this is what the actors and writers are saying. I'm using the terms they are.

Residuals as they describe them are a percentage of the money made on either streaming sites and TV based on the number of people watching them.

And they not only aren't rare, but are considered a necessity for actors and writers working between gigs.

Again, this is all what they're saying and arguing over. If you have a problem with their use of the term, more reason why this strike was a terrible idea.

And no, they wouldn't just drop shows after 6 months just for licensing fees.
