DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS Producer Confirms Christine Palmer's Relationship Status

The Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer showed Christine Palmer's wedding, but is it Stephen Strange she's getting married to? One of the sequel's producers has now cleared things up...

What If...? showed us how much Christine Palmer means to Stephen Strange as the Sorcerer Supreme doomed his entire reality in an effort to save her life. Events are a little different in the MCU, of course, but we know the hero has strong feelings for his old colleague based on how things played out in 2016's Doctor Strange.

In the trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Christine is shown walking down the aisle in a wedding dress, but is Stephen the one she's getting married to? It's a nice thought, but no.

"They are not back together, unfortunately," confirmed producer Richie Palmer during a recent interview in D23 Magazine"As we saw at the end of Doctor Strange, he chose to stay in the Sanctum, meaning he can't entertain his selfish desires. He would've loved to stay with Christine at the end of that movie, but he did the hard thing. He said, 'No. I'm going to be a Super Hero and defend our reality. I have to move on.'"

"Our movie shows him dealing with the decisions he's made," he continued. "He might regret how things ended with Christine; he still carries a torch for her."

While someone else has won Christine's heart in the time that's passed since we first met Doctor Strange, the trailer also appeared to show her heading on a trip through the Multiverse alongside the former Sorcerer Supreme and America Chavez. However, the prevailing theory is that Rachel McAdams is also playing Clea, a Variant who just so happens to look exactly like Strange's old flame.

That's going to make this adventure even more mind-bending for the titular hero, but could give him a second chance at finding love after denying himself a relationship with Christine in the MCU.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be released in theaters on May 6.

It’s a bummer, maybe they’ll kill her off then to make way for a new lady friend

@campblood - that would be lazy writing and I’m pretty sure Clea will be a possible romantic lead

That’s fine. I was never into Christine, anyways. Clea was Strange’s superior love interest.

I don't see why Strange being a Sorcerer prevents him from having external relationships, romantic or otherwise. It's not like he's a Jedi!

I figured it just meant that Christine didn't get blipped and during the 5 years Strange was presumed dead she simply moved on with her life, met someone, fell in love and got engaged. And that would have been a very interesting thing to explore about the blip, because lots of people who lost loved ones to Thanos would inevitably have moved on during that time and we'd get to see that bringing everyone back didn't just miraculously fix the last five years; that there's still a lot of recovery that needs to take place going forward, and that people's lives will have changed in huge ways, and seeing all that through the eyes of a lead character like Strange would have been a really fascinating emotional arc and might even explain things like why he was a bit more reckless in No Way Home and might even have been part of whatever causes the events that unfold in Multiverse of Madness.

I’m gonna defend our reality by casting the most stupid of stupid spells for this brat cis white teenager just so we can get another 7 movies milked out of such stupidity

@McMurdo - what's that have to do with Peter being cis or white? It's like refering Phastos from Eternals as "Gay ass [The N-Word]" for no reason at all! Sometimes I don't understand you Americans!

"No. I'm going to be a Super Hero and defend our reality. I have to move on"

...then then queue No Way Home and him destroying our reality... sigh
