Marvel Studios officially released the first teaser trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness today, and we now have four new promo stills to accompany it.
Though three of these images are basically just screenshots from the trailer, one of 'em gives us a closer look at the two characters standing behind Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) as he steps through that doorway. To his left stands Xochitl Gomez' America Chavez, while the woman on his right appears to be played by Rachel McAdams - but that doesn't look at all like Christine Palmer!
Strange's old flame can be seen getting married at an earlier point in the teaser, and this shot has led to speculation that Clea will be introduced in the sequel as a Christine Variant.
In the comics, Clea was a disciple and lover of the Master of the Mystic Arts, and currently serves as the Sorceress Supreme of the Dark Dimension. There have been rumors that the character would appear in Doctor Strange 2, and while this mysterious individual may not turn out to be Clea (maybe Christine simply updated her look?), it does seem like a pretty solid theory.
Check out the new stills below and let us know what you think.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6, 2022.
