DOCTOR STRANGE 2 Officially A Go At Marvel As Scott Derrickson Finalizes Deal To Direct
We've been waiting a long time for some official news on Marvel Studios' plans for a Doctor Strange sequel, and now it's here! Reports are coming in that Scott Derrickson will return to helm the movie...
Amid rumors that Marvel Studios has been tentatively planning to get the ball rolling on a sequel to Doctor Strange, THR has now confirmed that preparations are underway.
Scott Derrickson has finalized a deal to return to the director's chair. A writer for the project is currently being sought, but all going well production is expected to get underway by spring of 2020, with an eye on a May 2021 release.
Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise the role of The Sorcerer Supreme, and he'll be joined by Benedict Wong as fellow wizard, Wong. Rachael McAdams is also "likely" to return as Strange's love interest, who really didn't get a whole lot to do in the first film. There's no mention of Chiwetel Ejiofor (Mordo), however.
