There'are two high concept prison break movies called "Supermax." According to Bloody Disgusting another script with the same title as the one by "Street Fighter" scribe Justin Marks has just sold to Columbia Pictures. Unlike the earlier "Supermax" idea, which had DC Comics' Green Arrow planning his escape from an ultra-high security prison designed to keep super villains behind bars, this "Supermax" idea takes place in a facility where supernatural beings are the prisoners.
As written by Christopher Allen Nelson and Mitch Rouse, their Supermax movie is about a guard from the prison having to make a team-up of convenience with a dangerous inmate of the prison after a riot breaks out. The two protect each other's back as they fight their way past monster-like creatures and amped up crazies to get out of danger. Like I said, it's high concept but in a completely other direction than the superhero Supermax!

By the way, Columbia's "Supermax "and DC's is "Super Max." Just so you know, so there is now two scripts floating about, one Superhero the other Supernatural! Below is a quick plot of what "Super Max" may turn out like. Plus I did a casting that I've been working on a while. Don't fret, I have done a Green Arrow: Year One with another actor taking the role! Hopefully you'll see that tomorrow, anyway enjoy.

This is what David Goyer said about the Green Arrow Super Max project -
“He’s Green Arrow for the first 10 minutes of the movie, and then he’s arrested and his secret identity is revealed. They shave his goatee and they take his costume and send him to prison for life, and he has to escape. It’s like ‘Alcatraz,’ and he has to team up with, in some cases, some of the very same villains he is responsible for incarcerating in order to get out and clear his name. Of course, tons of people try to kill him while he’s in there. We’ve populated the prison with all sorts of B and C villains from the DC Universe. For the fans, there will be all sorts of characters the hardcore comic book junkies will know, but they’re all going to be there under their human names and no one is wearing a costume, but there will be a lot of characters with powers and things like that.”
Goyer pretty much summarizes what is principally the first act of the script. I will elaborate a little further. For those of you who don’t know, who is the Green Arrow? His secret identity is Oliver Queen, billionaire activist of the fictional Star City. Dressed like Robin Hood, Green Arrow is an archer, who invents arrows with various special functions, such as a glue arrow, a net arrow, or a boxing-glove arrow.
Spoiler alert below!
Oliver Queen began as a wealthy playboy and rich, thrill seeking activist, who after a drunken rant at a party goes for a voyage on his yacht with his best friend and wingman Will Hackett. The opening scene in the script is when twenty something trust fund brat Ollie falls overboard and splashes into the ocean. He washes ashore lives like Robinson Crusoe on a semi-deserted Pacific island. Forced to hunt for survival, Queen developed his natural archery skill to a peak level. When drug-runners came to the island, he captured them and returned to civilization three years later, changed by his experiences on the island. Ollie returns to civilization full of principles and vision per the words of his buddy Hackett who is honoring him at an opulent dining hall with other society types after the opening scene.
Hackett goes on to say that over the last ten years, Queen Industries has committed almost a billion dollars towards Ollie’s principles. Whether it is fighting organized crime, corporate fraud, or government corruption, Oliver Queen (now in his 30s) is a warrior on the front lines. A modern day Robin Hood.
Marcus Cross is also at the dinner, Cross wants to take over Queen Industries.
Meanwhile, over at Checkmate World Security Headquarters, Col. Taleb Beni Khalid spearheads the controversial Checkmate Initiative which intends to safeguard the public from vigilantes. Khalid believes that those who don the mask and cape should not be permitted to call themselves enforcers of the law. A break-in happens at Checkmate HQ, and all of Khalid’s bodyguards are killed using Green Arrows.
Ollie learns of the breach at Checkmate HQ through his secret police band ear piece, leaves his dinner and turns into the Green Arrow by page 7.
So what does the cinematic Green Arrow look like? The Green Arrow wears a tight green leather suit, quivers attached to his ankles and thighs, and a giant COMPOUND BOW running across his back. His face is concealed by a dark hood.
Green Arrow finds Khalid dead in a warehouse killed by a green arrow. He’s been set up. A SWAT unit bursts in and a cool chase sequence ensues which ends with Green Arrow getting caught by the Police Chief. Green Arrow is surrounded by an army of cops with their weapons trained on him and he surrenders.
Apparently, at the police station, the DA has a hard-on for Ollie and has been wanting to bring him down for years. Hackett comes to the station to talk to Ollie who believes he has been set up by Cross who is staging a ninety billion dollar takeover of Queen Industries. If Queen’s expenditures get marked as criminal activity, this takeover just got that much easier.
It’s obvious that weeks later, Queen is found guilty. The Judge believes that since he has no confidence that a conventional lockup will be able to contain a man of Mr. Queen’s abilities, it is the recommendation of the court that he spends the remainder of his life in the only place in the world that could lock him down, the Super Max Penitentiary for Metahumans. Ollie is surrendered to the custody of the Checkmate Initiative. The Alcatraz for super villains, no one has ever escaped SUPER MAX.
Since Queen is now a prisoner, he gets injected with a computer chip – A Parallax Device. We will come to learn that the Parallax Device is how the prison keeps the inmates and their abilities in check. Ollie meets the warden, Amanda Waller (black, 40s) who gives him his introduction to Super Max and the Parallax Device. Col. Khalid was a friend of hers. It’s safe to say that Ollie is [frick]ed. In the baptism gallery, Ollie gets the shit kicked out him by guards led by Penotti. Ollie gets a green jumpsuit and is given his number: 9242.
Want to know how cool Super Max is? The prison changes shape, cells rearrange, and reconfigures every night to disorient the prisoners from breaking out. A transforming super prison, very cool!
At the end of Act I, Ollie hooks up with Split, a teleporter and one of the DC Universe villains who gives him the lowdown in the recreation yard and becomes Ollie and the audience’s liaison. I will be presenting the rest of the rogues gallery shortly. Here is something else really cool - The Joker, Lex Luthor, and the Riddler are inmates at Super Max! They all make cool cameos but top secret for now.
The prisoners are divided into groups, first the mortals like Ollie – Green suits. Then geniuses – Blue Suits and finally the Orange suits – metas, superpowers. The other inmates that can’t be controlled are class five, their powers are too much and are in permanent lockdown in the cells.
BLOCKBUSTER seems to be prison gangster running the show being the biggest and strongest [frick]er there.
How do the stakes go up for Ollie in prison? The takeover of Queen Industries gets legally complicated so in order for his estate to get released to Cross, he has to be declared dead! Now the Green Arrow is a marked man in prison.

I have done Green Arrow (of course) and all the DC universe B and C list villains/inmates at Super Max below, the characters and the Fan casting next to them. Enjoy. If you have any ideas on any of the other characters in the movie comment below. Also by the sound of it, the origin will be short as most of the film will take place in Super Max. I expect that's why there is a Year One making the rounds too!
Jon Hamm as Oliver Queen (Green Arrow)
SET2FALL CBM user told me about him, and he's a great actor. Since I have been watching "Mad Men" a television show in which he stars in as Don Draper. Every week I watch it now. I see Oliver Queen. He screams it. Check out the quality series and see for yourself, he is Green Arrow!
Paul Bettany as Count Vertigo
Count Vertigo first appeared in Star City, where he attempted to steal back the jewels his parents had sold when they escaped to England after the war. The victim of a hereditary inner ear defect that affected his balance, Vertigo had a small electronic device implanted in his right temple that compensated this problem. Tinkering with the device, Vertigo learned he was able to affect other people’s balance as well, distorting their perceptions so that they literally couldn’t tell up from down, an effect known as vertigo. Donning a costume and taking the name "Count Vertigo", he embarked on a life of crime. This would bring him in conflict with the heroes Green Arrow and Black Canary.
Top quality actor, perfect for the role!
Mackenzie Crook as Icicle
Cameron Mahkent is Icicle II unlike his father (the original Icicle) Cameron Mahkent has no need for a 'cold gun', as his father's prolonged exposure to the weapon altered his genetics, allowing him to biologically pass down to his son the ability to freeze objects and people or to lower the temperature of a room or other area. This ability unintentionally gave his skin an albino pigment.
Cameron became the second Icicle shortly before joining the Wizard's Injustice Unlimited group.
Mackenzie what can I say, the part is owned by him.
Nick Stahl as Pied Piper
Hartley Rathaway was born deaf, but was eventually cured thanks to research funded by his wealthy father (later it was revealed that he was cured by Dr. Will Magnus). He became obsessed with sound, and pursued little else in life; experimenting with sonic technology, Rathaway eventually invented a technique of hypnotism through music. Growing bored of his lifestyle, he turned to crime as the Pied Piper and frequently clashed with Barry Allen, the second Flash.
If you've seen "Carnivale" a very under-rated tv show, you would know how talented Stahl's is-- great for the Pied Piper.
Alan Rickman as Merlyn
Years before Oliver Queen would become Green Arrow, he was inspired to take up archery by the amazing archer, Merlyn "the Magician." Once Green Arrow began to become famous, the two met again, as Merlyn challenged the hero to a public archery contest and defeated him. With that victory under his belt, Merlyn vanished for years, only to resurface as a member of the League of Assassins. Merlyn and Green Arrow faced again as Merlyn tried to fulfill a contract to assassinate Batman. Green Arrow was able to deflect one of Merlyn's arrows with an arrow of his own, saving Batman's life. Merlyn admitted that Green Arrow had become the better archer, but escaped before he could be captured. Unable to return to the League of Assassins, he became a freelance assassin.
Rickman, no brainer.
Christina Milian as Cascade
Cascade (Rhian Douglas) was the leader of the Sovereign Seven and had the ability to cascade, or teleport, both herself and others. Her ability generally required some knowledge of the destination or that she be provided with a "waypoint" by Network. Cascade fled her mother, Maitresse, who ruled Cascade's homeworld with unflinching omnipotence.
Christina is not a heavy hitter, but I think in the stuff i have seen her in isn't bad. She'd make a fine Cascade, sexy too!
Andy Serkis as Shock Trauma
Shock Trauma - Not a lot is known about him though he can generate electricity.
As for the actor, he was in a little movie called "Lord of the Rings," yes Gollom. Good actor and will bring class to the cast (okay, to his character).
Steve Buscemi as Calculator
The Calculator has a genius level intelligence is a skilled manipulator and superb strategist. The Calculator also has a vast array of criminal contacts. In his early career he used a battlesuit.
Calculator has used a battlesuit with a large calculator in the chest area. The computers in the suit can accurately predict the actions of any hero or even the Earth itself. A projector in the helmet is linked to the suit and can create items by solidifying the dust in the air. Calculator no longer uses this battlesuit and its whereabouts are unknown.
A very obscure villain that only Buscemi would bring justice to.
William Defoe as Floronic Man
Jason Woodrue uses an experimental forumula to transform his body into a plant/human hybrid, with his skin resembling bark and his hair turning into leaves. Now calling himself the Floronic Man, he is defeated by Green Lantern. The Floronic Man later becomes a member of the Secret Society of Super-Villains.
Just think William Defoe with all that make up on: oh my it sends shivers!
Olivia Wilde as Gemini
She is the daughter of Madame Rouge. In the Beast Boy mini-series, she sought revenge against Beast Boy for killing her mother. She attempted to frame him for the murders of his former cast members in an old TV show. She was thwarted by Beast Boy, Flamebird, and Nightwing. Subsequently, she joined her mother's old group, the Brotherhood of Evil. Her first mission with them was an arms deal with the Penguin in Blüdhaven, but they were defeated by Batgirl.
Um Olivia Wilde anyone? I thought so.
Jason Patric as Multiplex
Danton Black was the assistant to nuclear physicist Martin Stein when they worked together to design the Hudson Nuclear Facility, during which Black felt (incorrectly) that Stein was getting too much credit while he did all the work. A bomb placed in the facility by a protest group exploded one night transforming Stein (and student Ronnie Raymond) into Firestorm with the power of fusion, and granting Black the power of fission--the ability to separate himself into many different beings as Multiplex.
Jason Patric is a must for this role and would bring depth to it.
Danny Trejo as Tattooded Man
Abel Tarrant was a sailor based in Coast City who turned to burglary. During one of his heists, he was exposed to a bunch of mysterious chemicals which left him with the mental ability to create actual objects from the chemicals. When he got back from the robbery, he tattooed himself using the chemicals so he would always have the chemicals near him. Some of the shapes he was able to conjure from his tattoos were an axe, shield, cannon, and dragon.
We all know Danny Trejo and with a shaven head and no mustache (yes he has lost it for certain roles in the past). Perfect Tattooded Man. Heck, they would even need to put many more tattoos on him.
Digital Djinn as an Unknown
Djinn - His body was reduced to a binary code and stored in microchips within a magnetic bottle. So basically he'd be CGI with a digital voice. Oh and he was a former member of Suicide Squad.
Triple H as Blockbuster
Blockbuster is Mark Desmond, a chemist who desired to increase his physical strength. Experimenting on himself, he succeeded in making himself stronger and taller, but as a side-effect of the process he also became almost mindlessly aggressive. The mentally debilitated Desmond was cared for by his brother Roland, a local criminal, who kept their mother from discovering what Mark had done to himself. Roland manipulated his brother into committing crimes on his behalf.
Well I'm not one for wrestler's in movies, but Triple H could quite easily do this part. He probably won't say too much, but come on, he is Blockbuster!
Kane as Iron Cross
Not a lot is known about Iron Cross, just that he was in Justice League Task Force for a very short time!
Yes I know another wrestler, but Kane can grunt a bit and be Iron Cross easily. Plus check out his "See No Evil" movie, he's not too bad at acting.
Updated: Forgot to put Heatmonger in, and that role goes to Charlize Theron
Heatmonger is a supervillain with robotic arms that shoot out blasts of thermal energy and little is known about her, as like Iron Cross she too was in the Justice League Task Force for a short time.
As to why Charlize Theron as Heatmonger, just watch a movie called Monster to see, perfect!
Okay as for the cameos, they are very short but important so first is...
Crispin Glover as The Joker
Johnny Depp as The Riddler
Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor (why not)
And heck because we all love her - Brittany Murphy as Harley Quinn
Whew, hope you enjoyed them? I personally would love to see the Green Arrow movie. Of course, with both "Super" Max and "Supermax" similar plots and their nearly identical names, I could see people watching one or the other or getting confused. Still "Armageddon" and "Deep Impact" came out within two months of each other, though both had essentially the same plot (extinction by meteor), they both achieved box office success.
Anyway it's Green Arrow all the way! ; )
