FAN CAST: Spider-man Reboot details and supporting cast

In my last article I gave my ideas for who would be the best actor to portray the main cast for the Spider-man Reboot, along with a basic story line. This time I'm adding a few details i'd like to see in the movie along with supporting cast members.

First off, here is a short list of things I would love to see in the Spidey reboot.

Since it has already been stated that the movie will have a significantly smaller budget than the Raimi films, we know CGI will probibly be kept to a minimum. That being said, I think the new film makers should resort to the use of free running. I have seen numerous videos on the subject and so far, no one looks more siper-man-esque than Damien Walters.

i would also like to see the use of mechanical webshooters. Yes it seems unlikely that a highschool kid, even someone as smart as peter parker, would be able to design his trademark tool, remember...its a friggin comic book!! Having him run out of web fluid would be much more interesting and heart stopping then having him start losing his powers ala spider-man 2. It doesnt have to be in every movie where he almost face plants from 50 stories up but we should at least get to see him change the cartridges in mid air every now and then, If not only as a nod to the fact that they do run out.

Finally, like many of you, I would love to see his costume look home made. not P.O.S. home made, but something that doesnt quite look store bought or manufactured by a production company (What was up with the scales and the raised webbing btw?). I've seen the design someone came up with involving a speed suit, hockey mask and a bunch of padding and while the idea was a good one, how would Peter Parker hide a costume that bulky under his civilian wear?

Ok so thats my 2 cents on that subject. lets get to the casting shall we?

So last time, I showed who I thought would make perfect candidates for the movie's main characters.
This is a list of supporting cast members and who should portray them.

Aunt May (Shirley Jones)

Shirley Jones has the right amount of sweetness and sass to bring Aunt May to life on the big screen

Uncle Bed (flashbacks only)Ed Asner

Ed Asner just has that kind of presence that makes u want to pull up a chair and get some cocoa every time he talks. Plus he already did Uncle ben's voice for Spectacular Spider-Man

Normal Osborn (Ralph Fiennes)

Though he wouldn't be the villain in the first movie, Stormin' Norman should still be part of it, even if its as the overly-critical father of his best friend, and almost tyrannical financial backer for Dr. Connors experimentation (See last article). Besides Willam DeFoe, I don't think anyone can play suave and sophisticated AND cold and maniacal better than Ralph Fiennes. Check him out in Red Dragon, The English Patient (if i can sit through a 4 hour flick) and as Voldemort in the Harry Potter movies

Harry Osborn (Daryl Sabara)

This kid just reaks nerdy under achiever...in a good way. As peters best friend, harry is always runner up, even to his own father

Adrian Toombs (Ben Kingsley)

Heres another villain who got the royal shaft after the cancellation of Raimi's Spider-man Series. Though John Malkovich had already been cast for the roll, my choice is Ben Kingsly. He already looks like the vulture, especially from the Spectacular series, and hes got the chops to play a classy villain. He could still be used as a cameo in the movie before he has his chance to don the winged suit and clash with the webhead in a later film

J. Jonah Jameson

Its hard to picture anyone doing a better job s JJJ besides J.K. Simmons so we shall leave this one open

Joe "Robbie" Robinson (Joe Morton)

I have seen a few movies Joe Morton has been in, along with the show Eureka. He just has an air about him that presents him as a nice guy but someone who can get things done. This is exactly what is needed to play "Robbie", the Co-editor of the Daily Bugle. No one can reel JJJ in better than he can

Betty Brant

Betty Was Peters first crush. shes sweet and kind but tougher than she looks. She'd have to be to work for Jameson. I think Zooey Deschanel fits the bill

Detective Jean DeWolff (Lena Headey)

Dewolff is someone which is both hard as nails and strikingly beautiful. Lena Headey can do this roll in her sleep. check out 300, the Terminator TV series, and her roll in The Brothers Grimm

All of Peter and harry's classmates can be played by virtual unknows, though its still vital to find the right actors and actresses to play them. These spots include:
Eugene "Flash" Thompson
Liz Allen
Kenny "King" Kong
Rand Robertson
Glory Grant
and Deborah Whitman even though technically she was one of Peters College classmates
If you can think of anyone good to play these characters let me know

I think Damien Walters was a stuntman for KICK-ASS. The guy is crazy...:) He could do some awesome stuff on the film without CG.

i dont think they have the budget or the need to go Ultimate Green Goblin... im hoping they dont use the goblin at all in this movie.. have Osbourne as a set up for a sequel... then again i hope this all falls through and Sony are forced to give the rights back to Marvel Studios

exactly how damien walters did those flips and things and how he moved is how spiderman should in the films and that would mhave been sweet to see beast in the danger room training like that in the x-men films.but marvel doent have the rights back yet so it will be along time before we see these kind of characters get done right.

hell yeah do stunt like damien walters for film and only do cgi stunts when you really must. thats anothe problem in hollywood they use to much cgi when they should blend practical with cgi,and stop with the over use of action, and cheesy lines, and actually make great stories. im out.

I'm confused have you cast Damien Walters as Spider-Man? He's a stunt-man not an actor. I would certainly like to see him do stunts for thye film but not to actually play Peter Parker. And if not who have you cast as Peter?

You can't have JK SIMMONS in it, its a reboot.

And i'd rather have a SPIDER-MAN 4 with JK!!! ; D

Good work though dude!

Ryden, Walters would just be doing the acrobatics in spider-man. he also has a number of younger pupils that would be the right height if they are indeed going to use a younger, shorter spider-man.

If you look at the story synopsis i posted in my last article, Norman Osborne would be only a supporting character in the first 2 movies. his role in the first movie would be as harry's dad and the financial backer for Curt Connors, whos constant pressure would force Connors to prematurely test his healing enhancement serum, based on the Super Soldier formula. This would be how it would link to the other movies and the rest of the Marvel Universe

@redandblue- Then who have you cast as Spider-Man then?

Ryden, In the fan cast that i did, I recommended Aaron Johnson just because he looks so much like the character, but he already declined any more super hero movies. 2nd choice would have been Joseph Gordon-Levitt but many say he's too old to play a 16 year old highschooler. 3rd would be Shai LaBeouf but again, may be too old and i dont feel like hes got quite the right look. He does do quick wit and smart ass very very well though. He also pulls off the deapth of character and comic timing.

Anil, The story line you put together was amazing. The only qualm I had was with the fact that Uncle Ben is alive. His death was always what spark the fire in Peter Parkers heart, and breathed life into Spider-man. That being said, I loved it. It's very reminiscent of the Spider-Man graphic novels I've read. I always love it when they were in first person. It makes you feel like you are filling out the spider themed onesy instead of being a passive observer. Check out Spider-man: Down These Dark Streets, Spider-Man: Darkest Hour, and Spider-Man: Trial By Thunder

I dunno Anil. i mean im a fan of spiderman...a big fan..obviously, and though i loved the visual effects and everything, the story was usually sub-par and the characters seemed bland. it was more like watching a live action Aaturday morning cartoon than a feature length film. Sure its based on a comic book character but they could have made it at least kind of based on the comic books. they had characters names right but origins were way off base and the feel of each character was a bit wonky. Plus Raimi kept dipping into his B-movie camp style of directing and adding dumb stuff that was unnecessary. i believe THAT was the reason Sony pulled the plug on 4. they saw the dipping reactions fans had with each concecutive movie (Even though i loved 2) and were like screw this guy...NEXT!!!

I mean seriouslym How are you gonna go from Green Goblin, to Doc Ock, to..SANDMAN? really? Now I've never been a fan of Venom but hes much better than Sandman ever was and they chose to only show him for the last 15 min of the film and then kill him off at the end, then make sand man a good guy? please. That whole movie felt shotty and tacked on. They should have just went straight for the obvious choice and do a lizard story. i dont know if I wrote my Lizard story line here yet but it seems pretty BA to me. That will be my next objective
