The present day incarnation of this team is made up of some of it's founding members from the "Golden Age" of superheroes who are dedicated to passing on the heroic legacy of the Justice Society to a new generation of heroes, some of whom are the children of former members of the original incarnation of the Justice Society.
Like most comic series, the Justice Society's status is all ways evolving, so for this initial movie take not all of the characters will be seen right away. Some will be appearing in sequels. Here is what I'm going with as the team roster for the movie.
Ed Harris = Alan Scott/Green Lantern. He's the leader/father of the Justice Society so I went with an actor that can come across as being the tough no nonsense type when needed.
Bruce Greenwood = Jay Garrick/Flash. If Alan Scott is the "father" of the team, Jay Garrick could be considered the wise and kindly "uncle" of the team. Greenwood when potraying good guys always seems to have that likable down to earth quality need for Jay Garrick.
James Brolin = Ted Grant/Wildcat. Grant is the gruff and tough "uncle" of the team. Brolin when he has played bad guy gives off the quite menace vibe, that type of vibe that says "Cross me in any way and your ass is f**ked."
Eric Bana = Carter Hall/Hawkman. Is an explanation needed?
Chiwetel Ejiofor = Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific. a solid versatile actor. A perfect match as this character.
Katee Sackhoff = Kara Zor-L/Karen Starr/Power Girl. Another casting that shouldn't need explanation. Anyone riding the talentless, big boobed, eye candy as Power Girl train enjoy the ride until you run off the tracks. I'll stay on this train, thank you!
Anthony Michael Hall = Sanderson Hawkins/Sandman. Hall impressed me back when he was on the Dead Zone series some years ago so based on that acting turn I'd give him a go as the current version of the Sandman.
Jessica-Biel = Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl. Biel has the right cross between nice girl and tough girl needed for Hawkgirl.
Daniel Craig = Kent V. Nelson/Dr. Fate. Went with a solid actor, who doesn't look like the "sterotypical geeky" magic user, much in the same way as the character of Kent V. Nelson.
Jamie Bamber = Rick Tyler/Hourman. Rick Tyler comes across as an average guy when not playing Hourman. Bamber go in this type of role.
Ali Larter = Jesse Chambers/Liberty Belle/Jesse Quick. Larter a descent actress and has some action/fighting sequence experience under her belt.
Wentworth Miller = Pieter Cross/Dr. Mid-Nite. Miller proved he can play cool and intellectual during his run on the TV series Prison Break, so he should be a good fit as this character.
Brandon Molale = Captain Marvel. He's not as well known as most of the other actors and that's just fine, especially for Captain Marvel, who's one of the many comic characters that have constantly been named for solo movie projects.
Hayley Erin = Courtney Whitmore/Stargirl. Going again for an unknown for this character. She's an up and coming soap opera actress for those who need to know.
Shad "Bow Wow" Moss = Jakeem Thunder. Just the right amount of "street cred" and "good" kid attitude for this character.
And finally the perfect villain to start with to go against the JSA : Gerard Butler = Vandal Savage.
And just for s**ts and giggles, here are some of the casting choices I had in mind for possible sequels as JSA members.
Kellan Lutz = Grant Emerson/Damage.
Joseph Gordon Levitt = Tommy Bronson/Wildcat II.
Gina Torres = Jill Carlyle/Crimson Avenger.
Rachelle Lefevre = Maxine Hunkel/Cyclone.
Alan Ritchson = David Reid/Lance/Magog.
Stephanie Jacobsen = Sonia Sato/Judomaster.
Kyla Pratt = Jennifer Pierce/Lighting.
Liam Hemsworth = Nathan Heyward/Citizen Steel.
And Ving Rhames = Markus Clay/Amazing Man.
A JSA Prequel Casting featuring the original founding members coming soon.
