Marvel's Spider-Man: A Trilogy: A Fan Cast

Marvel's Spider-Man: A Trilogy: A Fan Cast

Ever wonder where Pete will swing back to after fulfilling only 1/32 of his actual role in Civil War? He's headed to Queens with this lovely group of people.

I like doing fan-casts. Some are mediocre. Most are perfect. This one is probably more mediocre than perfect, but that’s only because I didn’t get to choose the Peter or Aunt May. The other picks are solid as a rock. Anyways, just enjoy it. It’s pretty good.

1. Spidey takes on Vulture and Rhino, finally succeeding with Cap's help. We find out in the post-credits scene that Rhino was in prison with Fisk and was sent to take out Spidey for being potentially too problematic as a new and powerful hero in New York.
(Between the events of the first and second film, Spidey joins Daredevil on a special episode of his show and they take down Fisk together once he is out of prison and causing more problems.)

2. Spidey takes on Green Goblin.

3. Spidey takes on Kraven.

Peter Parker/Spider-Man – Tom Holland (The Impossible)

 photo Tom_zpsugovta2o.png

I was pulling for Charlie Rowe, myself, but I have faith in this kid.

Aunt May Parker – Marisa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny)
 photo May_zpsfixudnbs.png

I love that they went younger for Aunt May. Peter is supposed to be 15, guys. There’s no need for his dad’s sister to be 75. And I love Marisa Tomei.

Uncle Ben Parker (flashbacks) – Sean Bean (National Treasure, like the one thing he doesn't die in)
 photo Ben_zpsxdjluqko.png

Lol. But he does die a lot in movies. Amirite?

Mary Jane Watson – Molly Quinn (Castle)
 photo MJ_zpstqz082if.png

Not really many options for young, talented redheads right now. You could do Bella Thorne or that other girl, but Molly Quinn is so charismatic and beautiful. Plus, she’s really not that much older than Tom Holland. Just a few years.

J. Jonah Jameson – Kiefer Sutherland (24)
 photo JJJ_zpsxyx7u7xo.png

You didn’t think I was going to pull the J.K. Simmons card, did you? I don’t roll that way. No, I like Kiefer. Have you seen Monsters Vs Aliens? Remember General W.R. Monger? That was him. Dude’s crazy talented anyways, but add in the fact that he can do strong, harsh voices, and we’ve got ourselves a winner.

Robbie Robertson – Michael Ealy (Barbershop, among other cinematic masterpieces)
 photo 1Robbie_zps1hhx7vft.png

He seduced me. I wanted to go slightly younger with this pick to allow him to age into the role. And I just love his face. I do. He’s got nice eyes.

Betty Brant – Alexandra D’Addario (Percy Jackson series)
 photo Betty_zpsbkunk0qe.png

I love her in general. She funny and a sight for sore eyes. Maybe is Tom Holland ages enough to look good next to her, I’d love for them to date later on.

Flash Thompson – Emory Cohen (Place Beyond the Pines)
 photo Flash_zpsyq9yhy5u.png

This is what many would call a “type-cast.” His wannabe tough guy thing worked pretty well in Place Beyond the Pines. I’d basically just want to see that character in this universe.

Harry Osborn – Timothée Chalamet (Interstellar)
 photo Harry_zpsle9cyaiq.png

I honestly don’t remember him in Interstellar. That movie was like 4 hours long, and he was only in the first 20 minutes. I chose him because he was on the short-list to play Peter, but I think he looks a tad too stuck-up. I think he looks far more like Harry than Peter. But not comic-Harry. No one’s hair actually looks like that.

Norman Osborn/Green Goblin (second film) – Chris Meloni (Law & Order: SVU)
 photo Norman_zpsswtqd8l2.png

Perfect age. Perfect hair. Great actor, both for comedy and drama. He’s very well-versed, and I can see him being Norman for so many reasons.

Adrian Toomes/Vulture – Billy Bob Thornton (Slingblade)
 photo 1Vulture_zpsbixbhyq9.png

Originally, I had Thornton cast as Norman Osborn. Upon deeper thinking, I realized I’d want someone a little younger, but I didn’t want to get rid of Billy Bob. This brought me to adding Vulture to my cast. I think he would be a fun villain in the first film and return in the third film for Kraven's Last Hunt. Gives a good excuse for a recurring MCU villain. As for the first film however, I want Vulture and Rhino to be partners-in-crime tormenting Spidey while a certain someone is pulling the strings from a certain prison.

Aleksei Sytsevich/Rhino – Hafthór Björnsson (Game of Thrones)
 photo 1Rhino_zpszu3mfbm3.png

Yeah, I just like this big dude. But you can’t just put any guy in a Rhino suit. Unless you’re Marc Webb. Then you do put just anyone in a rhino suit and call it a day. Not my style. I prefer the traditional Rhino.

Sergei Kravinoff/Kraven the Hunter – Eric Bana (Hulk)
 photo Kraven_zps3wvji1oy.png

Eric Bana is a great actor and would be perfect in the role.

Steve Rogers/Captain America – Chris Evans
 photo Cap_zpstiwtvmen.jpg

I want Steve to show up in the first film when Pete can’t handle his life and failing to take on Vulture and Rhino. Cap comes to give advice and they end up taking on the two villains together. This is partially to set up a loose interpretation of the storyline with Vermin and the events of Kraven’s Last Hunt, but it will be with Vulture instead.

Enjoy? Yeah, I bet you did.

Overused. Actors dye their hair all the time you don't need to necessarily have a redhead play MJ.

@UltimateCookie - Maybe some are overused because they're *gasp* good picks. I get it. Some are overused. Others aren't.

Also, I don't care for faux redheads. Red hair is generally associated with a skin tone and all. Natural redheads just make more sense.

@PietroJaximoff - Just saying I'd rather see some more original choices not that these are bad.

- How about a role where Sean Bean doesn't die?
- And how about a role for Molly C. Quinn that isn't Mary Jane Watson?
- Good casting eye for J. Jonah Jameson!
- Wouldn't mind Alexandra for Betty Brant.
- Emory Cohen is too small. Flash is a jock and stands pretty tall.
- Billy Bob Thorton is great, and a good alternate choice for J. Jonah Jameson (recent roles saw him play similar roles). But he doesn't fit Vulture.
- Great choice for Rhino!

@MikeZ -
-The Sean Bean thing was kind of a joke because of the death thing. My original pick was Aaron Eckhart.
-I'm partial to redheads being played by natural redheads and Molly Quinn is the one in her age group I'm most familiar with and I love her as an actress.
-You know, I didn't realize just how short Cohen was until you said that. He seemed of average height in PBTP, but I guess being 5'7" really isn't that great. You got me on that one.
-I agree that Billy Bob could play JJJ if it came up, but I honestly really like the idea of him as Vulture with a haircut. It would be kind of an interesting spin on Vulture to make him southern. I wouldn't really change anything else about him, though.
-Thanks for the praise on the others, man.

@PietroJaximoff - Aaron Eckhart could bring some serious heart to that role! Damn... but Sean Bean would be pretty interesting. Plus the audience would already expect him to die anyway; I mean, they've seen Uncle Ben die two times already on-screen.

LOVE Chris Meloni as Green Goblin too! :D

Both were choices I never would have even thought of.

I love this cast. But I don't think Vulture and Rhino would be good enough on their own.

Maybe Scorpion? Love Meloni as GG though.

@FlyntCoal - Thanks for the love, pal.

I see where you're coming from. I would not be opposed to seeing Scorpion join the two I cast if that's what you had in mind. Just as long as they are very obviously petty criminals that work together simply to do crime or stop Spider-Man. I don't want them to end up underdeveloped or sympathetic like most of the Spider-Man movie villains we've been given so far. That's why I picked the two I did: they're just simple enough to not be underdeveloped but they're also forces to be reckoned with in their own right.

Who would you cast as Scorpion? I see Timothy Olyphant on every other cast featuring Scorpion.

@PietroJaximoff - Of course, man.

I absolutely agree with the "underdeveloped and sympathetic" part. So sick of sob stories for bad guys.

I think the three of them together would work. It might be a bit much but not if they're sold as a trio, rather than three villains that need stories on their own. Also, Sinister Six possibilities!

Olyphant would be fine but maybe someone big and intimidating like say, Kevin Durand?

Fantastic! I especially liked your Kraven, I can really see Bana in the role. He has potential for a CBM role, but that role shouldn't have been Bruce Banner. My personal pick for Kraven is Richard Armitage, but I might just consider changing it.
