My Fan Cast for a rebooted The Princess Bride

My Fan Cast for a rebooted The Princess Bride

Iv recently done a fancast for a MGS film and this was on my list of to do's...Thanks to Ager's good casting he prompted me to do one sooner!

Well we all know the story and what it entails fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles you name it, its got it!! This film is easily in my top 5 of all time favourites.

Now Im 26 and i loved this film as a kid, hell i still love it now! But I think the youth of today deserves a reboot of the classic story by William Goldman.

Thanks to Ager's great casting Iv done one of my own and i hope its as well received as his mine is abit different and il explain why!

Westley - Eric Christian Olsen

OK my choice for this is because he is a fricking clone of Carey Elwes, and he has been in some funny films, not another teen movie,Dumb&Dumber when harry met lloyd and i think he could play the part nicely judging from his roles in his past films.

Buttercup - Tamsin Egerton

She is beautiful, she is english and doesnt have to put on a silly accent and she can act subject to popular belief.lol

Inigo Montoya - Antonio Banderas

OK I wanted my casting to be a little different and the reason iv cast him as Inigo is because i wanted someone who could show the emotion and the weariness of a man who has been searching for his fathers killer and trained to become a master of the blade all of his life, he was fantasic as Zorro, and i think Westley getting to the top of the cliffs dressed in what IS a Zorro costume could make for a funny quip!

Fezzik - Paul White - The Biiiiiiig Show!!!

Have you seen how huge this guy is!!! he is like a gentle giant tho and watching him and Eric Christian Olsen squaring up to one another would be hilarious!!

Vizzini - Robin Williams (i was thinking about simon pegg tho and even Will ferrell)

Robin Williams, have you seen him do stand up!!, he has a quick tongue hes funny, everyone loves him and he could bring so much to this role with his many many faces and voices. I would have had Will Ferrell based on his performance as Mugatu.

Prince Humperdink - Robert Downey Jr

He would be absolutley brilliant for this part, he can easily pull off the whole arsey snooty im rich and good looking part perfectly as portrayed by Chris Sarandon so well

6 Fingered Man - Pierce Brosnan

Like I said my casting is different, but i wanted Inigo's villain to be older, suarve, well spoken, clever and sly and personally Brosnan could do this, I think he could carry the part of being a murdererand Inigo's rival really well.

Miracle Max - Jim Carey

I honestly couldnt think of anyone who could play this part better than Jim Carey...he can just mold himself into his role and becomes the character he is portraying, seeing him in prosthetics for this would be fantastic. I dont need to reference any films as he has been in so many classics!

The King (Humperdinks Dad) - Bill Murray

Loved him in What about Bob? and would love to see him play a senile old fart :D

Albino - Nick Frost

He does look abit like the albino anyway, but i thought he would be a good choice anyway, not just based of his movie work but his TV stuff too.

The Grandpa - Michael Caine

Who could play a Grandfather better than Michael Caine! As the film does have some narration in it I thought his voice would be a prefect fitting for this and he can make the role of Grandfather seem natural unlike Peter Falk.

Now I know a few people might be wondering where the sick boy played by Fred Savage, but I think any child could play that part regardless of acting ability and so i leave that role vacant.

With my casting for the 6 fingered man and Inigo I chose both old-ish actors for the reason Inigo has been looking for him most of his adult life. If i were to set the scene of Inigos fathers death I would have Inigo and Count Rugen in the late teens with Rugen already being established as a swordsman and Inigo just a blacksmith son thus starting his quest to become a master to avenge his father.

Vizzini was really my hardest choice, but Robin Williams was probably my best candidate with his flexibilty in his performances. Will ferrell could have brought his hysterical and loud humour really well but he just doesnt come across as someone an audience could deem "intelligent" :D

Well I hope you guys liked my latest Casting, its going to be interesting hearing what you all think especially since mine is so different from Agers strong cast.

Cheers for reading

And thanks to Ager for inspiring me to do one of my own for this truly classic film.

most of these are spot on but Buttercup looks a little to mature for Wesley here. Cool.

@ager - yours was a good casting mate, but yeah Hedlund is abit more rough and ready for westley :P and He isnt bald, i just googled an image of it and it popped up, its funny tho...I would have had Colin Farrell as the prince (befitting only because he is playing the role of the vampire in fright night - originally played by Chris Sarandon) but thought RDJ was a much much better choice!...thanks for your reply matey..mucho appreciated :D would be epic to see them reboot it with these guys!

I went back and looked at ager's cast and between this one and that one it's perfect. You guys should combine these. Nick Frost is slightly better than Jack Black, but just barely.

@cerebro - a reboot would be nice for the next generation....most kids nowadays dont get the humour of yesterday so bringing it upto date would be great!

Classic Timeless Film. These are spot on especially Banderas but I'd cringe if we ever see the film get remade
