My Thoughts on the Perfect Choice for Spider-Man

My Thoughts on the Perfect Choice for Spider-Man

My choice for Spider-Man and why.

Even as I write this, I understand there will be a lot hatred towards my choice, but I have come to the conclusion that the best Peter Parker in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot is Zac Efron.

Physically: he is young, agile, lithe, everything Spider-Man should be.

Acting-wise: yes, yes he's been in High School Musical and 17 Again, tween movies, of course. But an assortment of actors have been in movies nowhere near related to the CBM universe. Heath Ledger played a gay cowboy in Brokeback Mountain. Michael Keaton was Mr. Mom. And Edward Norton portrayed a white supremacist. The point is, just because he was in tween-bopper movies, doesn't mean he should be ruled out. (I say this because I have noticed on here most of the negative comments toward Efron is his acting history)

Now he has moved on to more serious roles. I just saw the trailer for the movie Charlie St. Cloud and from what I had seen of it I was thoroughly impressed by his acting range. He was able to transition from playful to serious, heartbroken, and grieving to joyous, seeminglessly. It kind of just showed to me the characteristics of Spider-Man and Peter Parker, and how much he has grown as an actor since his High School Musical days.

Age: Well, now he's 22. People will comment how that's too old for Marc Webb's reboot, but I say to hell with that. Toby Maguire was 26 and portraying an 18 year old kid in high school.

Anyways, I had seen the five choices for Spider-Man and I must say I wasn't too thrilled with any of them. I think Zac Efron could be a blessing for the new Spider-Man francise. These, of course, are just my thoughts.

well Efron would draw in the crowds. The large crowds of horny preteen girls who go gaga over the sight of Zac shirtless. Not saying that Zac isn't dreamy. :)

@superbat wait, saying he's too good looking is like saying Hugh Jackman is too tall and Michael Keaton and Christan Bale are too short. I'm sure with some cinemagic they can uh "nerdify" him.

I agree, Efron would own that role. Can see him bringing a real smart-ass-ness to it.

I could see him doing the role just fine.

For the love of Stan Lee I am sick of seeing the Heath Ledger argument.

First off, Ledger was for a long long time before he got the Joker considered a talented actor so it was no shock when he got cast as the Joker, it was an interesting choice not the most obvious but hardly the same as picking a largley unproven actor with a Disney background.

and i don't understand your ed norton one? american history x is an incredible film and that only showcases norton's diversity as an actor...what on earth has that got to do with him playing hulk?

one man casting, poor article, poor casting choice. sorry. keaton="" was="" considered="" a="" good="" actor="" before="" batman="" the="" fan-backlash="" was="" due="" to="" his="" physical="" appearence="" not="" his="" acting="" chops.="" efron="" is="" very="" different,="" he="" doesn't="" fit="" spidey="" physically="" and="" given="" that="" he="" is="" a="" bad="" actor="" who="" hasn't="" shown="" any="" signs="" of="" improving="" he="" is="" clearly="" a="" bad="" choice.="" and="" i="" don't="" understand="" your="" ed="" norton="" one?="" american="" history="" x="" is="" an="" incredible="" film="" and="" that="" only="" showcases="" norton's="" diversity="" as="" an="" actor...what="" on="" earth="" has="" that="" got="" to="" do="" with="" him="" playing="" hulk?="" one="" man="" casting,="" poor="" article,="" poor="" casting="" choice.="" sorry.="">

Zac Efron isnt my ideal choice for Peter Parker/Spoderman, but if those 5 choices are the only ones their considering then i have to agree with you, that list doesnt make me excited for the reboot at all.

Zac Efron would bring a breathe of fresh air to the list of candidates is he was added.

Idk im kind of iffy with him being the face of the franchise, but we'll see what they wanna do.

Lol w.e i say here wont change their minds on the issue :P I really hope they kno wat the [frick] their doing but if not i have green lantern, thor, avengers, the man of steel, batman 3, captain america, wolverine 2, deadpool, and xmen: first class to hold me over :)

I'll take Efron over the other names that have been thrown around lately, and if I see one more picture of Eric Knudsen I swear I am going to grab a pair of scissors and...and... stab him between the eyes!! :P

Did you just put Zac Efron in the same category as Heath Ledger and Ed Norton? Sorry man, but that is blasphemy! I've seen Efron in a couple movies now (don't tell anyone) and while he's improving in his acting abilities, he is no where near the same level as Ledger and Norton. Yeah, he kinda looks the part, but that's about it.

Admittedly, for a while I thought maybe he could pull it off. Then I came to my senses and put the bottle of glue down. He's not right for the role.

RANGER @ That says it all lmao!!! : D

But still the reboots gonna be sh1te anyways so why not stick EFFRON in there! : P

Maybe they'll wise up and make a continuation of SPIDEY 4 later on!!! (What they should be doing now)

Very good Editorial @ TOAD man, though have no idea why its in fan-fic, it'll just get buried dude, anyway cool stuff!

LEEE777-I agree with you they need to do Spidey 4 and put the Lizard in it because I want to see him in a movie.

Efron is a horrible choice for Spider-Man he would be a better Flash Thompson than Peter Parker Efron is a crappy actor he is only capable of playing a sports star who is good at getting the ladies.

SUPERBATSPIDERMAN @ Cool man!! ; D

Yeah like you, i want the Lizard too, it was building up to it...

And hopefully building up to the SINISTER SIX or something in later movies too!

Now we're back to day one and probably ultimate too! : (
