Should Elements From The AGE OF ULTRON Storyline Form The Story For THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON?

Joss Whedon has said that Avengers: Age of Ultron will match the recent comic book storyline only in name. However, I think several elements from the comic should form the backbone for the movie's story.

Disclaimer: Plot points from Age of Ultron comic will be discussed in detail. Therefore those who have not yet read Age of Ultron should NOT read this article.

After revealing that the Avengers sequel will be called Avengers: Age of Ultron Joss Whedon said in an interview, "Well because there was a book called 'Age of Ultron' quite recently, a lot of people have assumed that is what we're doing, but that is not the case." To me this is a relief because the book Age of Ultron was not that great. However, there were elements to the story that were really good that I think could be a part of the movie's story. These elements include:

1. Ultron takes over the world.

The simplest way to describe the plot of Age of Ultron storyline is to say that Ultron takes over the world, and the Avengers are the resistance trying to dethrone him. In the same interview quoted above Joss says that the Avenger sequel "is very much a global Avengers film. A lot of the movie has to do with their place not jut in America, but the world." From the very moment that I found out Ultron would be the villain in the sequel this is what I wanted for the sequel. Thankfully, Joss Whedon seems to be making my wish for a global Avengers film come true, and having Ultron rule the world will certainly give Avengers: Age of Ultron a global aspect.

2. Vision is a conduit for Ultron.

From the very instant that fans found out that Ultron would be the villain in the Avengers sequel they have cried out for Vision to make an appearance in the film also. Having the Avengers infiltrate a fortress looking for Ultron only to find Vision in his place would be the way to introduce him to the MCU. The Avengers could then have Vision join their ranks as they prepare to defeat Ultron. This then leads to my last point.

3. Ultron controls the world from the future.

In the comic book Ultron communicates to Luke Cage and She Hulk from the future through his "son" Vision. This then leads to the first leap in time among many other leaps, which in my opinion is what made Age of Ultron so weak. However, in the movie the Avengers could go to the future to bring down Ultron once and for all thus ending the nightmare of the past. This, in turn could lead to the introduction of Kang the Conqueror in Avengers 4,5, or 6.

On a side note one last element from the comic that could make its way into the movie is the death of Hulk and Thor. While Joss has not officially declared that he would kill an Avenger many fans seem to think he will. If anyone is to die in this film I would rather it be anyone other than Captain America, and to stay true to the comic book I think it should be one of these two. Just don't tell Loki since he wants a rematch with Hulk.

Anyways I hope you the reader likes my ideas and if not feel free to tell me so.

In name only.
A few days ago, I was looking for a new apartment, seeing a lot of Tampa that I just hadn't laid eyes on for a long long time. Picture a grid outline, with the x and y axis.
*Fletcher, Fowler, Busch, Sligh, Hillsborough, and MLK are all x.
*Dale Mabry, Himes, Rome, North Boulevard, Florida, and Nebraska are all y.

Then there's this road called "Ola", which is a y street. Except while it does eventually reach the likes of MLK, it dead ends after each x street. It's like it just respawns itself, skipping over a few smaller x streets, and dead ends again. It's like a heart monitor.

Ola RD... in name only.

I have now wasted a few minutes of your life which you will never get back. You're welcome.

I confess to not having read Age of Ultron, since I don't buy comics anymore. I've read the wikis - it doesn't SOUND as bad as some people make it out, but anyway, I don't see time travel working right now. I could be pleasantly surprised, but I think things would get so convoluted, and people wouldn't enjoy it as much.

I am curious though, how (if it is the obvious scenario) Jarvis becomes Ultron - what was it that makes the AI go nuts? And from there, what are his ambitions? Control? Evolve? Could be interesting.

No sir. I'm just in a funny mood, that's all. In fact, for people who don't know AoU, your article would actually be rather insightful.

I can't even imagine what my reaction would be if any of the Avengers are killed off by Whedon, it would just be heart breaking!

@SriLinkaChumoftheSky: that would be dumb if time travel can't be used because it's owned by Fox. That would be like saying Ultron couldn't be done in a movie because evil robots belong to Hasbro.

no one owns time travel just like no one owns the word mutant.

i'd be happy if they took elements from all of the ultron stories over the years & put it all under one title "age of ultron".

fox are gonna come a cropper if they make a sixth x-men movie & want to name it "age of apocalypse",especially if they don't want to look like they're copying marvel studios.

I hope they have Vision and that Ultron at least nears taking over the world. Closer than the chitauri did at least.

So far Joss has gone on record saying BW, Hawkeye and Hulk will have significant and bigger roles in A2, so im going with one of them dying or sacrificing themselves to save the team.

@Bane I don't know how significant that will be. I mean he could just be trying to appease fans who want those characters to come out more. I could see Hulk having a big increase, and BW/Hawk just getting to know them more than them having big parts in the actual story. Remember 9 heroes means less time for everyone. Kinda glad they seem to be having thor/capt/iron man not quite as big a portion due to the fact that they are getting solo films. Really hope he finds the right balance.

All these actors are signed to films beyond AoU, so I don't see any of the superheroes dying, unless they get brought back in the next film. Whedon had a habit in the Buffy & Angel tv series of either killing off minor characters with emotional significance (Buffy's mom, Tara, Giles' girlfiend Jenny Calendar, Anya in the last episode), or killing off major characters but bringing them back the next season within 1-3 episodes (Angel at the end of season 2, Buffy at the end of season 5, and Spike in Buffy's last episode-he came back in season 5 of Angel.) So if a major character dies, they're coming back, or a more minor character dies (Fury, Hawkeye, or Black Widow.)
