Let me start off by saying I am a huge fan of the Christopher Nolan series. He showed us a realistic take on the caped crusaders story and gave us a grounded interpretation of some of batman's greatest villains.

A quick recap:

Batman Begins(My personal favorite) explored Batman's origin in elaborate detail. Explaining why Batman is the way he is and how he came to be. It also elaborated in his tech and almost every gadget he has at his expense. (Batman meets the last samurai)

The Dark Knight gave us a batman a little more experienced and confident in his cause. And introduced Batman's greatest rogue, The joker. The most chilling line to me in this movie was "This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets and immovable object. I think you and I are destined to do this forever" In the comics, the joker has been the devil on batman's shoulder. Antagonizing him, and Encouraging him to kill him. Which would be the ultimate joker, causing Batman to break his rule and loose himself. (Batman meets Law & Order)

The Dark Knight Rises showed the fall of batman and rise of batman. Introducing Bane, A real physical and mental threat. With Gotham completely taken over by the League of shadows, Batman must overcome the wear and tear of being Batman and his initial defeat to take back his city. A terrific conclusion to the trilogy. (Batman meets Die hard 3)

As much as I love the Nolan trilogy, It was kind of bland to me that every movie featured Batman protecting Gotham from being destroyed. I still feel that they weren't the Batman films that i have been waiting for. Still breathe taking in its story, not what i have been waiting for.

I was watching Watchmen and Hell boy 2 for the first time, I couldn't help but fantasize a batman movie made in this style. Rorschach's grapple gun(without explanation on how it works) which he uses to get into the comedians apartment, His detective work, and mental narrative reminded me of batman. Especially the how close each characters power and/or costume resembled the justice league. The grittiness of this world, although far from grounded, was interpreted to me in a way i would love to see Batman. A world where Killer croc is dwelling in the sewers, A world Where Clayface is an employed character actor, a world where Bane is waiting his escape in the prison yard of santa prisca, and where Dr. Victor fries is trying to find a way to cure his wife in a chriogenic sleep. Hell boy also teased this world to me. I thought, These aren't Batman characters but wouldn't it be something if they were? The affects in Hell boy 2 reminded me of the poison ivy we want to see.(when the giant squid thing is killed, its blood becomes a garden)

This world very similar in tone to watchmen. I would have liked to have included a fan cast but to be honest, i have no idea who could properly fill the roll of Batman in a world like this. My favorite interpretation will always be that of Kevin Conroy, especially the Arkham games.

I know I am not alone with this stylized vision for Batman. The grounded reality has been done. Now lets get the super natural aspect back into the picture. We already know how Batman came to be and what he'd be like in our world. Now we need a batman who protects Gotham city from the scum of the earth, and his biggest battles being that of villains who have their own personal agenda, that of which may come with the cost of life, and not just the entire city of Gotham as if every Batman Villain is just a glorified terrorist.

Again I love the Christopher Nolan Batman series. I am in no way bashing it, But its time to move on and in a completely different direction

I'm willing to bet money that from now on, WB/DC is gonna take the gritty, darker, realistic approach with all their films now. It's already shown evident with MOS. That just says lazy motivation on their part. Just because it "fits" one doesn't mean that it's gonna be passable with all the other properties.

I think a non realistic approach will really go over well with the comic book community.

However I think it will go over horribly with general audiences.

Oh you mean as in your ACTIONS have REALISTIC REACTIONS, that´s what they mean when they imply that it´s going to be realistic, you can´t just appear out of nowhere with your god like powers and expect everyone to just be all dandy about it, especially powerfull government agents who themselves have the obligation to protect their people just let you go around as a loose canoon, do you see how much everyone gets suspicious and starts conspiracies...When some dumb shit happens in our day to day life, not everyone would go like superman is the best...like in the most non-realistic movies.

It´s not lazy motivation, it´s more difficult because they have to put their mind around how the multiple factions would react to such an event, and how he would feel conflicted with that, instead of just having most of the people just love him and have a small minority who don´t.

@starscream9289

yes it is his mission. What i meant is it is boring to me that each Batman Film, There was a moment where someone stopped and said "my god hes gonna destroy the city". Obviously every film hes going to protect Gotham, but i don't want to see him protect GOTHAM again. As in, the villain wants to destroy the city rather than have his own motivations. For example, Mr. freeze trying to cure his wife by any means necessary. Hes willing to kill, but he doesn't want to destroy the whole damn city, that's not his motivation.

Or killer croc, Kid napping and eating people. Batman has to stop him. He doesnt want to destroy Gotham, He just wants to eat when hes hungry.

Riddler, Kid napping people and setting up a death trap like in saw. Batman has to solve riddles to find each of riddlers victims.(an actual pitch for the reboot) this would explore the detective side alot more.

I should have worded that as

"It was kind of bland to me that every movie featured Batman STOPPING Gotham(as a whole) from being destroyed."

Anything like those Arkham games would be cool.

@Joker

Don´t white-knight for him, that´s not what he meant, while in the batman world it´s possible to take awya the supernatural, in the superman it´s not because this guy´s arsenal is all based on his super-powers, they wouldn´t be making a superman movie if he couldn´t use his powers, that makes no sense.

I have high hopes for supes mainly because Zack Snyder is directing it. I mean i think they'll try to make it relatable in the sense that he has these powers but doesnt know his place in the world and hes afraid to be himself because he doesn't know what the world will make of him so he travels around to find himself(the fisherman clip, the hitch hiking) Ultimately i think this may be the super-man movie we need. I could be wrong but my hopes are very high on this one

I agree 100 percent. I' ve loved watching Nolan's vision of Bruce's journey from orphaned child to a retired crime fighter, but they did feel rushed along quite quickly. The only way to do justice to batman is with a tv series. Mix together the feel of Nolan's realism with the story of the comics and the artistic representation of the arkham games. By moving the story along slower you can bring depth to some of the more "unrealistic" villians like Croc, Penguin and Clayface. Character driven performances could give viewers sympathy to each villains unique motivations for why they do what they do. The general public loves crime dramas and detective shows which batman does a lot of. If they are going to do a hulk show and keep it seperate from the hulk in movies why not do the same with batman? Sorry so long.

@MisterMagurlypse

I completely agree with you. A Batman television show would really capture and develop each character and really do justice to the mythos. The animated series from the early 90's would be perfect influence. It developed each character and told an origin story in 2-4 part episodes. A big budget batman show would be great if done right.

I think this would be a perfect tone for the Batman television series.

Very well done video. Decent acting and the tone was spot on for what the show should be. I'm not a fan of too much narration, but I understand the need for it in this. I like it when expressions and actions do the talking. They wouldn't need to use cgi that often only with the likes of Clayface unless they use the Basil Karlo early version. Personally I think they should start with the Sondra Fuller version and work backwards from there. Seeing as there are fewer women villians that is. Grundy, Man Bat and Bane would need cgi of course but if you don't use it that much they could spend a little more on making it look really good. Something like Law and Order meets Walking Dead I guess. Is there anymore videos of the City of Scars out there?

Yeah they made a follow up. Its not as good as City of Scars but its the same actors. The guy who plays Batman was actually in the daredevil movie. Hes a decent Batman

Yeah I also think the reboot should be a lot like the Arkham games. I mean, as long as there is a cohesive story and in-depth characters, an atmosphere like that would be pretty awesome.

Not as good as Scars but at least Crocs death scene was a lot better than Talias inTDKR

yeah, who wants to talk about interesting issues of justice vs revenge and societal collapse when you can have batman kick a guy in the nuts?
