The Future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Part 1

The Future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Part 1

We already know there are four announced films after the Avengers but then what?

This is how I believe the Marvel Cinematic Universe should play out over the next few years following the Avengers in 2012.

2013

Iron Man 3 (2013) - Villian: Mandarin w/ Fin Fang Foom Delve a little more into Demon in a Bottle. Mandarin also presents an oppurtunity to reference Doctor Strange. But not to many references like Iron Man 2.

Thor 2 (2013) - Villian(s): Enchantress and the Executioner. It was reported that the sequel may stay in Asgard more, but hopefully not too much as there are many other realms to explore. Then possibly, at the end, be it the ACS or just the end of the film, but reveal the Enchantress speaking with someone about how Thor took her down and have this person be Loki.

Doctor Strange (2013) - Villain: Mordo trying to summon Dormammu. I would say the storyline could almost mirror the animated film well, just dont ever fully show Dormammu just hint at it and hint at it. The ACS could then be just that showing Dormammu finally.

Ant-Man (2014) - Villain: A.I.M./MODOK This is hard for me to come up with as I don't know as much about Ant-Man as the others, but I'll try. Have Pym create the particles with his GF Janet. He tests them, they allow him to grow and shrink. AIM wants them as a weapon and raid Pym's place to take it. Pym goes after them to there HQ (an abandoned HYDRA location would be a good easter egg).
Pym fights off many AIM agents but can't handle MODOK that is where Janet comes to save the day. They then destroy the remaining particles. ACS: Ultron!

Captain America: Winter Soldier (2014) - Villian: Winter Soldier/Russians Have it set in modern times with flashbacks to Bucky after "death". He can be the main villain the entire movie until he finally captures Cap and the Russians begin to beat up on him he then remembers everything from before he was brainwashed and helps Cap escape.

Black Panther (2014) - Villain: Klaw After the death of his father, Klaw and his men begin to take over Wakanda for its Vibranium. T'Challa is exiled for his failure to protect the country he rules. He then studies in the UK and US for a while until he hears of trouble in Wakanda and goes back to help. Upon him helping defeat Klaw he is renamed king and all is well.

The Avengers 2 (2015) - Add Ant Man, Wasp, Black Panther and possibly Doctor Strange and Vision. Have Ultron be the villain after being teased in Ant Man, but let him start out good and build Vision.

Then there will be more after that but that can be in Part 2

I like your interpretation @MrAnonymous

Why does Doctor Strange need to be an avenger?

I mostly agree with the Iron Man 3 stuff. I don't quite understand what Doctor Strange reference there would be. Mandarin's rings are Makluan alien tech. Fin Fang Foom is a Makluan alien.

Definately want to see Amora and Scurge in Thor sequel. But I also was hoping Karnilla gets into the film. Maybe Hela. But there's also Malekith,Surtur, and Ulik. I especially want to see the MCU's interpretation of Nidavelier. Whatever Loki's role in this film, I am not going to guess until I see where he stands after Avengers.

For Doctor Strange I definately DO want to see Dormammu. We got to see the Red Skull. There is no reason for the first Doctor Strange film to be a cocktease. Mordo is a good stepping stone villain but I really think the that before the end of the film Strange should be addressing his Arch-enemy directly. Then we can move on in a sequel to focus on the Darkhold- introducing Chthon into the MCU. (his book is responsible for both vampires and werewolves and even Doom has sought the book).

I like AIM being involved in the Ant-Man plot for sure. But MODOK so soon? The audience is already going to be iffy about this hero. A giant head in a floating chair isn't going to reassure them. Not for the first film. I think Egghead would be the best choice to work with AIM. He was a recurring villain of Ant Man and locked himself into a battle of intelligence and engineering against Hank, like a Doctor Doom without the charisma and power. Again, I seriously don't want the movie to glaze over the death of Hank's first wife at the beginning of his story. Upon first seeing Janet he was a little taken aback because she looked very similar to his late wife. Pym also didn't use the discovered particles right away. He originally had no intention of using them because he couldn't begin to guess at the side-effects it might have. Janet's father was a collegue of Hanks, and after her father was killed(by aliens) she called Hank out of desperation. She was determined to avenge her father so Hank outfitted her with powers to keep her from getting herself killed in the pursuit.

Captain America: I would rather have the Winter Soldier play a smaller, secondary role in the sequel, with him taking center stage in the third(audience revelation who Winter Soldier is could be explained in the ACS of this sequel). For the main villain I want to see the Baron Zemos. Heinrich(in the past) and Helmut(in the present). I also wouldn't mind seeing the seeds of Thunderbolts being planted through Helmut.

For Black Panther: Sounds standard, classic, and exactly what I would want to see. But I would also include Man-Ape as an associate of Klaw.

We know the MCU hasn't followed the 616 to rigidly. That leaves room to tinker with the origins of some characters.

Thor 2- I think having The Enchantress and The Executioner is a must. Using her powers to bring forces to Asgard (Dark Elves or Surtur) to stage an epic, dare I mention it, LOTR style battle. It would be amazing to see the nine realms waging war on each other

Ant-Man- I can't wait for this. Selvig alluded to a "doctor who's had dealing with [SHIELD] before" so to have him creating the ant-man/giant-man personas would be brilliant. It would almost be a prequel to The Avengers in some aspects but having him create some of the tech we see in The Avengers would be perfect. As for villains I'm unsure. MODOK is too complex a character for an already complex hero. The general public may be left confused. I think keeping AIM out of the way and sticking with HYDRA would be more sensible. Unless AIM is what HYDRA has become in the present day. The MCU doesn't need to overcomplicate their universe.

Black Panther- The Earth's Mightiest Heroes introduction was great. Backstory, T'Chaka losing his thrown to Man Ape and T'Challa fighting to regain the thrown. It sounds generic but it's a completely fresh dynamic in comparison to the other Marvel Studios outings. Obviously Vibranium needs an origin just as much as it's an integral part of the Marvel Universe. I agree that having Klaw in there to maybe bolster this point would be great. How to cram it all in would be interesting.

Captain America 2- It would be great to see Baron Von Strucker emerge as the present day head of HYDRA with Baron Zemo at his side. Their drive to attain the cosmic cube (depending on it's position by the end of The Avengers) in order to bring back the Red Skull. I think having the Winter Soldier would be great as it would allow for the idea that HYDRA gathered his body and made him their warrior. I think having Russians using him would seem a but irrelevant in this day and age. Although that thread has been there with the Vanko's I'm not sure that is enough of a link to have a lone soldier without the countries being at war. With HYDRA being such a force it would be great to have Bucky realise what has happened and join Cap in taking HYDRA down. Again, generic but simplistic.

Iron Man 3- I think The Mandarin and Fing Fang Foom are a must. The cosmic elements presented in Thor would allow this to happen without needing to remain tech-based. With the Ten Rings have been teased throughout the Iron Man franchise it would be criminal to not do him. I'd like to see Justin Hammer back given that he said he'd see Pepper "real soon". It would be nice to have Tony take on something huge as opposed to one villain if this is to be his, possibly, last solo outing.

Doctor Strange- I would be happy for him to wait as I'm not sure how he'd fit in with The Avengers. The cosmic and mystical elements of the MCU allow grand scope for his inclusion but what part he has to play would be interesting none the less. I don't think Dormammu should be left for sequels as they have done with The Mandarin would be fair. He may not be a big enough character to warrant further sequels like Iron Man

@CraptainAmerica why does Dr Strange have to fit in with the Avengers. I hope marvel have more sense and they don't tie every god damn hero to the Avengers. Anyways I like the res of your idea's and MrAnonymous

That's why I said I'd be happy for them to wait as I'm not sure how he'd fit in. He's too complex a character to have him be thrown into the mix

On a side note...I'd be disappointed if they didn't return to The Hulk and have Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader. I loved TIH and I would prefer a sequel to this more than any other

I think if they go with the AIM villain in Ant Man, focus more on Monica Rappacini, and George Tartleton just as an ordinary man. That way at the end of the movie, you can see a beaten Tartleton being worked on and transformed into MODOK for a possible sequel or tie in to another movie. That's just my 2 cents.

@ScionStorm I never said he needed to be but they have changed things already. If Dr. Strange did well, the GA would want to see him in there somehow. Also Egghead would work as the same purpose as MODOk that is just who I put since don't know his villains as well.

@CraptainAmerica I really like the Captain America Baron Von Struker plot you suggested. It would give Winter Soldier a better fit than Russia.

Anyway thank you all for reading and providing your thoughts on my first article.

This doesn't belong in the Editorial section. I would say Fan-Fic for this.

fangz - The idea of many heroes arch-nemesis is that they are basically mirror images of themselves (The heroes). I mean Bats' arch-nemesis is the Joker because his basically like Bats'.
How I do agree, there needs to be something different in the new movies. Hulk and Leader go at it, Iron Man and Mandarin with Thor going against Enchantress and her 'lacky' ( For the lack of a better word ) and Caps up against Zemo.
Though I agree, it's an odd theme to throw into the films.

Are they leading up to something ?

Dr Strange shouldn't be an Avenger. If any hero in their own movie, or even the Avengers, ever fight someone with magical powers, then they could have them go consult Strange about it, but other than that, he doesn't need to be a main Avenger.

@ Jeffrerys

"I mean Bats' arch-nemesis is the Joker because his basically like Bats'."

sorry, but how on earth do you think Joker and Batman are ANYTHING alike? basically, the Joker is what Batman COULD have become after the death of his parents, but he rose above that and dedicated himself to justice. There are no similarities between the two characters though.

Would Ant Man be like the one from The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes?
On other note I really like your ideas :)
