“Okay class, have a good weekend, and oh yeah, Happy Halloween!” said Mr. Worth with an excited voice. The middle aged mans smiled widely. He was a good man, nice mannered and always willing to help his students. He was a good guy. He wouldn’t hurt a fly.
The class didn’t pay much attention though, they were just ready to go. Especially Jim Evanston. He hated school. Well he really hated life in all. He didn’t really have friends. He was a loner.
As soon as the bell rang he was out of his seat and well on his way home. He would have made it home without much social contact if it he hadn’t heard his named called behind him.
He kept moving at first, acting like he didn’t hear her, it was a girl, he could tell that by her voice. Without looking back he sped up a little.
“Jimmy!!” called the girls voice.
Finally he turned around. To his surprise the girl who called him was Jennifer Martin. She was the girl of his dreams, she was blonde and beautiful; and popular, and you can tell from there that the conversation between the two was more then awkward.
“Hey Jimmy.” Started Jennifer in a flirty voice.
“Hi Jennifer.” Jim managed to get out after stuttering a couple of times.
“I just wanted to give you this.” Said Jennifer as she reached into her book bag and pulled out an white envelope. She gently handed it to him.
“What is it.” Asked Jim suspiciously, weighting it in his hand.
“Its an invite to my Halloween party silly, I know you’ve been hearing about it!”
“You mean I’m In-Invited”
“Course you are, I mean why you wouldn’t be.”
“But you don’t even talk to me.” Replied Jim, and he was serious. He didn’t even know how she even knew his name; she’d never even looked at him. Plus she was the girlfriend of the schools quarterback Matt Mara.
“I’ve been meaning to Change that.” She said getting closer to him. “ Just make sure you come, okay?”
“Okay.” He replied.
The rest of that night and most of the next day he thought about why Jennifer would invite him, of all people, to her Halloween party; but when the time came to get ready for the party he made sure to put on his best clothes. What ever the reason, he wanted to impress her.
From the second he entered the party he realized what a mistake he had made. He just didn’t fit in. He walked around awkwardly for about an hour before he ran into Jennifer.
“Jimmy, I’m glad you could make it.” She said pulling him to the side, “how about we talk in Private?”
Soon they were in her bed room.
“You know, I’ve always kind of had a crush on you for a while…” she started, twirling her hair.
“But don’t you go out with that jock, um Matt?” he asked, but her only reply was to put her index finger to his lip and shush him. She then pulled out a blind fold and told him to put it on. After some convincing he finally put it on.
“Now ill be back” she said.
And off she went, and Jim sat there for 4 minutes, waiting for what ever she was going to do.
“Okay, I’m going to give you a kiss.” She said, and next thing he knew, a slobbery wet kiss landed on his lips, then her heard the sound of laughter and cameras going off.
Shocked he ripped the blindfold off to see a dog in front of him and most of the party goers standing around him.
“Lame!” could be heard through the crowded over the cheering. He looked to Jennifer for an explanation, but she just chuckled and pointed.
“Look at the lame, I mean for real, OH MY GOD!!!!” She said to the crowded.
Angry and embarrassed Jim jolted up from the crowded and ran out the house, away from the party. It was an terrible night for it was cold and dark but he didn’t care. He was too hurt. How could she do that to him? Was he just some entertainment for the crowd of cool kids? He had no way of telling.
If he wasn’t so sad and mad then he would have noticed that the street light had started to slightly trickle on and off. He also would have notice that the wind was picking up slightly and that the scent of blood was in the air, but anger made him foolish. He had no idea what was soon going to happen to him.
“Why so sad.” came a strong male voice. Jim stopped in his tracks. “It seems like you may need some help!”
“wh-whos there?” asked Jim, “what’s your name?”
“I have no name and all names Jim Evanston. You may call me Spectre.” Replied the voice.
“Specre, what do you want with me?” replied Jim.
“Only to help.”
Suddenly a white glowing body wrapped in a green hood appeared in front of Jim. The man had only white eyes and his body glowed violently.
“Open your soul and I shall give you what you want,” said the Spectre “ Justice, Vengeance!”
The party pretty much continued on after Jim had left. The music started playing again and everybody talked about how they were going to upload the prank pulled on Jim earlier. Jennifer went back to her boy friend, who had given her the idea in the first place. Thing were perfect for the cool. At least it seemed that way.
Then the wind hit. It was a violent wind; blowing the doors off the hinges and busting out the window, then Jim appear in the middle of the party.
“Jennifer!!!!” he said, and as she approached him she realized that his eyes were all white and his skin glowed eerie.
“Jimmy?” she asked. “Is that you? What are you doing here.”
Jimmy awoke from his drift in the middle of a room, with dead bodies all around him. The last thing he remembered was allowing the Spectre thing to “help” him. It took him a while to realize that he knew the room; then the people. He looked over the bodies of all the party goers, remembering their names from school. Then he came across Jennifer. She looked the worst, soaked in blood.
“Who did this?” He asked.
“We did.” answered the Spectre.
“Why?” asked Jim.
“Because it was your will. You wanted vengeance and I gave it to you.”
“I didn’t want it like this.” He said as he bent down to Jennifer’s body. “This is wrong, change it.”
“I can’t do I need to, to the outside world, you are no more. You never existed. You were never named, never birth. You are no one now.”
“Why?” asked Jim almost passively?
“I helped you and now you help me. Let’s go, for we have work to do if we are to change this world.”
