SPOILER WARNING- Some information is related to the Avengers trailers at the end of Captain America: TFA.
With DCMarvelFreshman reporting that Thor 2 has been greenlit with a projected opening of July 26 I got to thinking about the direction that it will go. I talked about my idea for Thor 2 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in my first article titled “Blueprint for the Marvel Cinematic Universe” in which I predicted Thor 2 would be released in 2013 following Iron-Man 3. Now I can talk more in depth about what I see happening in Thor 2.
Of course the biggest thing that will affect what will happen to Thor 2 is what happens in The Avengers and more specifically what happens to Loki. I doubt they will kill off a character that is so vital to not only the Thor story but also the greater Marvel universe. Watching the Avengers trailer it seems that Loki is under the custody of SHIELD but for how long and for what reason is still unknown. Someone, not sure who, mentioned that Thor and Iron-Man fight in the Avengers movie as Thor is trying to free Loki (if you want to see how this fight will go, read Thor Vol 3 Issue 3).
This is how I see Thor 2 unfolding;
Thor is still on Earth following the events of The Avengers. Loki has been imprisoned on the Isle of Silence by Odin though he somehow manages to get Enchantress to do his bidding which means that Skurge follows her. Enchantress gives Asgardian powers to the Wrecking Crew who then wreck havoc until Thor stops them. Understanding that the powers they got came from Asgardian magic Thor travels back to Asgard to confront the only person that could do it, the Enchantress, since Loki is in prison. Thor attempts to put Enchantress on the Isle of Silence as punishment with Loki but Skurge fights Thor to prevent his love from going.
This does differ from my MCU Blueprint but I think that it makes more sense this way. Like I said before though, it all depends on what happens with the Avengers movie.
Unfortunately with Kenneth Branagh perhaps the biggest question for Thor fans behind what will happen to Thor and Loki in Avengers is who will direct Thor 2. I have seen many names with the bigger ones being Peter Jackson, JJ Abrams, Ridley Scott, Danny Boyle, Darren Aronofsky, Christopher Nolan, Jon Favreau, Martin Campbell and Bryan Singer. Personally I don’t any of them are going to do it, not sure who it will be. Probably someone we don’t expect just like we didn’t expect Branagh to do it.
