More Details On Upcoming ARROW/THE FLASH Crossover; Will We See More Of H.I.V.E.?

Marc Guggenheim talks here about the planned crossover between Arrow and The Flash (confirming the identity of another familiar face we'll see in those episodes), and goes on to reveal what the current plans are for that H.I.V.E. storyline they teased in season two as well as plans for Arsenal.

Collider recently took part in a conference call with Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim, and below are some of the highlights from that conversation (be sure to click here for details on when and where Brandon Routh's Ray Palmer will suit up as The Atom). He started off by teasing plans for the crossover episodes which will take place later this year between the two CW dramas.

"It’s so freakin’ awesome! It really is. I’ve never had so much fun writing a script before, maybe in my life. It was such a blast to work on. We’re filming the Arrow episode right now, and it’s just so much fun. I keep telling everyone that we should try for Avengers. It’s these two heroes together with a big production value. We’re blowing out the doors on this. There’s the opportunity for inside jokes, and seeing all of the characters together. What happens when Cisco gets his eyes on Thea? There are moments like that, that you just can’t do in a normal episode. It’s just so much fun. It’s really going to be a blast. Jesse Warren is directing it, and he is just crushing it. Those dailies are really, really insane. Nick Tarabay plays Boomerang/Digger Harkness, and he’s amazing. And that weapon is a whole new visual language in the show, and a whole new visual language for our stunt guys to work with. And watching Grant [Gustin] and Stephen [Amell] together is just magic."

If you remember, an early episode of Arrow's second season dropped some hints about H.I.V.E., the mysterious organization that hired Deadshot to kill John Diggle's brother, Andrew. Comic book fans were well aware of what this could all lead to, but it sounds as if it we probably shouldn't expect to see that plot thread picked up on anytime soon. They are still thinking about it though! "There are no plans, at the moment. I know the fans have been waiting for it, ever since we teased it at the end of 206. It keeps coming up in the writers’ room. Like everything else, it will have its day and its time. At the moment, I can’t say that we’ve got the episode where we pick that thread back up, but it’s definitely on our list of things that we want to get to."

As for Roy Harper as Arsenal, he definitely WILL play a major role in Arrow's third season. "I think he’s fine being a part of the team, as he is. We played with that notion of Roy questioning Oliver’s judgement in Episode 218. What you see in Season 3 is a much more mentor/mentee, master/apprentice relationship, which is what we were setting up in 212, but didn’t fully realize. It’s really more fully realized in Season 3. You really see how Oliver is training this kid to be a hero in his own right." What do you guys think of these latest details about the series?

Maybe from the Adam West Batman/Green Hornet crossover in 1967 just 45 years before the Avengers.

Nice tidbits. Still, I'd like to see Atom do his thing.

What's that? You think Arrow is an awesome show? Better than Agents of SHIELD? Really dude? Damn. Well...okay I guess.

What's that? The Flash pilot was better than any Marvel Studios movie that ever came out in theaters? Ha ha! I don't know about that man....I don't know about that. But that's cool.

I'm kinda more excited to see a future bootleg Justice League universe on T.V than the main one in the movies at the moment.

My biggest hope is we get a Task Force X - Suicide Squad spin-off so that Boomerang can join in.
