While
Twentieth Century Fox is jump-starting production on Matthew Vaughn's
X-Men: First Class prequel in a few short weeks, the studio is currently searching for actors to fill the roles of their next Marvel adaption, the reboot of the
Fantastic Four franchise. And now according to
Screenrant:
According to my sources, Fox is currently pursuing high caliber talent to play (Reed Richards). The two actors in the running for the Fantastic Four lead part are Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Adrien Brody.
Recently starring in Robert Rodriguez's
Predators, Oscar winning Adrien Brody, has had his name tossed around for many upcoming Marvel movie adaptions including Edgar Wright's
Ant-Man. And as for Jonathan Rhys Meyers, 33, hes best known for his roles in Bend It Like Beckham and in Woody Allen's Match Point. And has mostly been a fan favorite for the Marvel character Namor, the Sub-mariner, who currently has a film in the works.
If true anyhow, one of the actors would be replacing Ioan Gruffudd, who portrayed the character in the two previous
Fantastic Four films. And as for the other "Fantastic" three, "The Thing" will be completely CGI. And up-and-coming actor Kevin Pennington is said to be in the running for Johnny Storm, Human Torch, while Amber Heard & British actress Alice Eve are being considered for Sue Storm, Invisible Woman.
And it was also speculated that the reboot would be titled,
Fantastic Four: Reborn, but according to Screenrant, that isn't so. And whatever the film will be titled, FOX is targeting a summer of 2012 release, which Marvel Studios currently have their own hero-mashup film
The Avengers set for release as well.
DCMF - So folks, how do you feel about Brody or Meyers possibly leading the Fantastic Four as the man whose ability allows him to not only act as the local genius, but to be completely elastic? And how do you feel about FOX releasing the film in the crowded year of 2012, which currently The Avengers, Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, and many more to come have a scheduled release?
