While it's going to take another twelve months or so for Disney to officially acquire 21st Century Fox and the 20th Century Fox movie studio, the assumption is that the likes of Multiple Man, X-Force, and Doctor Doom will never see the light of day. In the case of the latter, it was at last year's Comic-Con that Noah Hawley revealed that he's working on a solo movie for the villain and we've heard nothing since.
As a result, it was easy to assume that a project in the early stages of development like this would never see the light of day but the Legion showrunner has now offered an update on the movie.
"I haven’t had a single conversation yet about Doom in the context of the merger. On some level, we’re still looking at a period of time – probably a year, at the least – for this whole thing to go through. Who knows, corporately, what conversations will be had, but certainly, until it goes through, it’s not a legal thing. I don’t know. I’ve been waiting for the phone to ring to see if anyone is gonna have an opinion. Otherwise, it’s just business as usual for me."
We'd heard that it's business as usual at Fox until this deal is finalised and while it's possible that Disney will start restricting Fox's Marvel output (the studio won't want to spend too much money developing movies which won't ever become a reality), it seems Hawley is still committed to making this movie happen and he could get the chance to do so depending how quickly it comes together.
Do you want to see Doctor Doom become a reality or would you rather he be introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe instead? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
