Michael Chiklis, who plays Ben Grimm/the Thing in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, said the Thing makeup weighs 60 pounds.

He appeared on today's Ellen DeGeneres' show wearing the "4" logo on his chest from the Fantastic Four film.

The Thing suit had a zipper up the back that is hidden by a flap that seals over. The whole thing made Chiklis' wife, who is claustrophobic, nervous, he told Ellen.

Ellen showed pictures of Chiklis in full Thing makeup including one shot of him with a makeup man's finger up his nose.

Chiklis said he returned from filming the FF in Vancouver to news that his new house, which he hadn't had a chance to move into yet, had burned down.

The FF film opens July 8.
